Do you wish you h 00004000 ad … restored vitality … a strong libidoaamore mental clarity … clear skin … reduced weight a.a stronger immune system … and that you looked and felt healthy in every aspect of your being.

There is a powerful new trend awakening in 21st century Spa’s and this trend is aTotal Body Purificationa. Purification is the process of neutralizing and eliminating internal toxins from our bodies which is essential for the maintenance of optimum health and vitality. Toxins are substances that have a harmful effect in our bodies and can undermine our health and weaken our bodily systems and organs. Purification is therefore the single most powerful tool you can use to prevent and reverse ill health and disease.

Eliminating toxins has always been foundational to our survival and is the doorway to optimal health and vitality. Our bodies work hard trying to protect us from toxins by storing them in our cells, mucous, and fat stores, waiting for a time when they can be eliminated. Unless we periodically help our bodies to eliminate these toxins by internal purification, an accumulation of toxins can lead to a toxic overload. Left unattended, our bodies may experience this toxic overload in various ways.

With today’s typical lifestyles, of stress, high sugar intake and the wrong fats in our highly processed diet, improper food combination, inadequate absorption of nutrients and over eating can abuse the delicate working systems of our body and inhibit purification and the evacuation pathways. This can lead to the development of symptoms such as hormonal problems, depression, fatigue, muscular aches and pains, headaches, infections, debilitating viral illnesses, digestive problems, loss of libido, allergies and there is also growing evidence that internal toxins are linked to cancer.

If you’re new to the growing spa wellness trend for body purification you may be surprised to learn that it began to appear in historical literature some 3,000 years ago! For thousands of years, body purification has been a part of healing rituals for well-being. It was often used in ancient times as a way to reconnect with the divine and today there has never been a greater need to purify ones mind, body and spirit.

Purification was used regularly to create a state of wellbeing amongst the ancient Egyptians, their scribes first wrote about purification in aEbers Papyrusa. The Ebers Papyrus is amongst one of the most important medical papyri of ancient Egypt. This document was created by the Egyptians much like our modern day medical reference books. The scroll contains some 700 magical formulas and remedies. They used procedures to remove waste from the patients that complained of ailments of the body and mind.

Many of today’s Spa’s are moving from the trend of simply pampering their clients and returning to their roots. Spa’s where once known as places for healing and the modern day spas are no exception. Many are opening their doors to embrace optimum health and vitality.

When you purify your body you open a pathway to great health and lasting vitality. It’s also an excellent none medical way of slowing down the aging process and obtaining more energy. It’s a way to remove the stored toxic waste matter, environmental pollutants and residue from any prescription drugs that are trapped in our bodies, many of which attribute to poor health.

If we think about all the environmental poisoning that our body is bombarded with, when we look at the pesticides found in our food supplies, when insecticides and other contaminants are found in our water supplies, its hardly surprising that many of us suffer from fatigue and poor health. Eventually, we find ourselves in a state of poor health, knocking on our doctor’s door. In all honesty, if we stop and focused on our diet for a few weeks many of our maladies would dissipate.

The theory is that toxins, drugs, and radioactive particles are stored in body fat and the brain, impairing our evacuation pathways, e.g. liver, kidneys, colon etc. Independent scientific evaluations now report that the toxins and poisons that we face are killing us, they are so far removed from what our ancestors had to deal with it is impossible for us to adequately remove them from our bodies.

So how do we remain healthy in such a toxin world? If purification is to work one must accept that nothing in life comes for free and our health is no exception. It takes commitment to stop the excesses, to make the decision to be well, to go on a health drive. It could be considered as the one gift we can truly give to ourselves. It’s the New Year’s resolution that we can start at any time of the year. It’s the ultimate decadent consumer product, because it’s easy, it’s fun and it’s good for you.

There’s a purification program to suit everyone. For those who prefer the orthodox approach there are Spa’s that offer the ultimate in purification pampering. Spa’s offering affordable packages with daily treatments, fresh enzyme rich juices and healing herbs which assist the process. Spa’s where you can learn to become empowered in different health practices.

For those who like the aDIYa approach purification can be done comfortably in your own home. The addition of a good juicer and blender can make the world of difference to long last wellbeing. The beauty of a purification program is it addresses the very core of your health problems rather than suppressing symptoms with prescribed drugs, which in turn can cause significant side effects with prolonged use and may make the body dependent and eventually more toxic.

So how does purification work? There seem to be two main ideas. One is awater fastsa which starves the body of nutrient the theory being the toxins are forced out into the blood stream and out of fat cells. This idea has for some time now been considered dangerous due to the severity of today pollutants. In days of old when our bodies only needed to rid itself of our own natural internal toxins it was a safe procedure.

The second and by far the most up to date is the 21st century aPuriti Purification Programa from Puriti Programs for Life. The Puriti programs help feed the body nutrients raising the body’s immune system, changing the subtle pH balance between acid – alkaline, removing free radicals and environmental toxins.

In days when malnutrition is one of the biggest medical issues in our western societies its makes sense to feed the body and not starve it. If for example you begin an eight day purification program you’ll produce quite dramatic results and give your body increased energy, improved sleep patterns, a sense of peace or calmness, decreased bloating and fluid retention, shed excess weight, have fewer aches and pains, more mental clarity, improved memory, improved libido and leave you feeling rejuvenated on all levels.

Purification in the new millennium should ideally begin slowly, allowing the body’s major organs (intestines, liver, skin, lungs, and kidneys) to adapt to the purification process, releasing toxins gradually and in a manageable fashion whilst the body is nourished and supported.

Once your body is free of its toxic overload the best thing you can do is to feed your body with whole, fresh, nutritionally-dense foods and juices. Eat the right fats and sugars; get plenty of quality, clean protein, juice with copious amounts of fresh, raw leafy green vegetables. Absolutely avoid anything processed, fried, packaged, reconstituted, refined, or high in worthless carbohydrates. Once food is cooked many of its enzymes are destroyed so have little left to give a hungry body.

A daily diet of fresh nutrient rich organic fruit and vegetables not only extends our life, they also provide the building blocks for long lasting health. The idea that man -made vitamins and minerals give us all that we need is a sad fallacy promoted by the manufactures of said products.

There are obviously cases where large doses of man-made nutrients can save lives but a daily habit of supplementing is really flushing good money down the lavatory. We all need the real deal when it come to keeping our bodies healthy, nothing else works as well as living foods, almost all the research evidence shows that taking supplements is either worthless or in many cases can be bad for you. Eating a healthy balanced diet for the whole of your life has proven time after time to be the winner.

So find out just how well purification works for you, as these days it’s open to anyone who has the desire to be well, purification crosses all cultures and economic strata’s. All you have to do is enroll onto a purification program and perhaps you’ll become one of the converted who realize that having a healthier lifestyle is an attainable goal. It makes sense and has been scientifically proven to be an effective, we can enjoy the energy, vigor and looks of someone much younger, simply take the extra steps to ensure your body has the arsenal of tools it needs.

It’s not rocket science; in fact, the answers are right here Puriti Programs for Life…Now available at Spa Palestra Moscow, please visit www.palestra.ru for more purification information visit www.puriti.org

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
I am researching for my book. Any help with morning sickness?
Okay, after three weeks of having sex with her boyfriend, this girl starts throwing up. (morning sickness). Like are you nauseas ALL the time? Or just certain parts of the day? Can you be nauseas one minute and feel fine the next, or does the nausea slowly fade? I need all the information on this, because my fans on the website I’m posting on are getting restless and demanding… I actually received a couple death threats lol. So, therefore I need ALL the information on morning sickness, including the questions I asked above.
    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
The worst morning sickness I had was with my first pregnancy. I would just get sick out of the blue and there were all different kinds of triggers. Mostly, it was smells: foods (even ones that I normally loved), walking in a bathroom too soon after someone else had been in there, gasoline, etc. If someone talked about anything even remotely gross I would throw up, whereas before I’d had a very strong stomach and could hear anything in vivid detail and it wouldn’t bother me. The worst was hearing someone else throw up. It would immediately send me into vomiting mode. Anything fried or remotely greasy or made with tomato sauce also made me sick. I’m done now-this is not a good memory lane to walk down LOL.

  2. QUESTION:
Any ladies morning sickness START after week 9?
Just trying to get a little more information and input. Just wondering if any of you had morning sickness START after week 9? I don’t know if I actually have morning (all day) sickness all of a sudden at week 9, or if I really have a flu bug…..Some odors have bothered me from the beginning and I have avoid some food because they “gross me ” out, but I have not had waves of naseau or vomitted while pregnant. So just trying to determine if it’s “late onset” morning sickness or the flu…Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Ironically, my morning sickness began on the exact day I turned 9 weeks. I was absolutely fine until then – I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones who never had any complaints – and literally on the ride home from my doctor’s appt, it hit all at once and we had to pull over so I could puke. From that day until I was about 16 weeks, EVERYTHING smelled bad, everything tasted bad, I was intensely nauseous and I puked up everything. There were days I was so sick I couldn’t even get out of bed. It was awful!

It’s not late onset morning sickness, starting at week 9 is very, very normal and actually the most probable week to start getting sick, and it usually ends when the first trimester is over. I know it’s miserable, but it’s a good sign because it means your hormones are going way up and your body is accepting the pregnancy. For me it took a couple of weeks longer to really feel like myself again.

  3. QUESTION:
Question about a morning sickness remedy?
Hi, I’ve been reading about the morning sickness remedy of combining Unisom (doxylamine) and Vitamin B6 but I can’t seem to get information on the dosage. Have any of you ladies tried this remedy, and if so, how did you take it?

I need specifics as far as amounts and also at what times of the day to take each, and if they are taken together at the same time. I hope this works for me. I’ve heard it is a Class A remedy and therefore very safe.

Nothing else I have tried works – ginger, crackers…you name it I tried it.
Lol Delta….I have three other children already – you’re right! But my morning sickness is terrible – it’s 24/7 for the first five months – I need relief or everything is going to fall apart here!

    • ANSWER:
I had really bad morning sickness all day the entire time i was pregnant with my 2nd child and my doc gave me Zofran (by script) as well. It works wonders for that nasty morning sickness. Just ask your doc about it rather than trying to do anything yourself and not knowing the dosages. Good luck and congrats on the baby! HUGS!!!!

  4. QUESTION:
At what point in your pregnancy did you begin to get morning sickness?
I’m writing a short story and not pregnant. At all. Just wanted to get some information. Thanks.
PS The more specific the better. You know, instead of “the first trimester,” like, a month and a half in. That sort of thing. Thanks a bunch!

    • ANSWER:
About a month into the pregnancy I got morning sickness for a total of 3 months. Could only eat grapes, everything else came back up , I was nauseous 24 hours a day, and lost 17 pounds

  5. QUESTION:
When did you start getting morning sickness? I’m 5wks, 5days, but don’t really feel nauseous…?
I know I should count my blessings that I’m not feeling sick, but I’ve read that women who experience morning sickness generally have higher chances of avoiding miscarriage (even though many women who don’t get sick obviously go on to have very healthy babies, too). In any case, I would (strangely) feel comforted if I were feeling nauseous.

Therefore, I’m just wondering when those of you who have had morning sickness actually started to get it. From the beginning? During 5th week? 6th week? Afterwards?

    Thanks for your information…

    • ANSWER:
8-9 weeks it kicked in for me; and I was the same, thinking “I’m doing pretty well not to get it yet”, and also got a bit worried, I guess not “feeling” pregnant.
A small percentage of women dont get morning sickness at all!

  6. QUESTION:
What does morning sickness feel like?
My LMP was oct 2, i got a BFP last nov 4th. My first ultrasound will be this friday, nov. 14. Is it too early to feel light-headed, feel like throwing up (but its not so bad)?? I feel like all my food is just in my chest. Any information will help pls!

    • ANSWER:
Hi! My morning sickness was different with both kids. I did get it both times, and I think with them it started between 6-8 weeks. It didn’t really matter what time of day I got it either. It would come and go…the urge to vomit. Kind of like feeling motion sick without the motion part. Sometimes I got it after taking my horse-size prenatal vitamins, so I suspect that may have been some of it. I ended up switching to different vitamins, as I am usually pretty sensitive to them. I almost always felt better afterward, even if it only lasted an hour. For my second child, I took a prescription to help the baby implant, and that was some type of hormone. I was horribly sick while taking that. I tried to counterbalance the nausea with an over the counter med, Emetrol, which was disgusting and further grossed me out. I was later put on Zofran and that helped a lot. Once I quit taking the hormone, I was fine.
I noticed that even things such as smells would set off my morning sickness. Frequently I just felt awful, but didn’t actually vomit. For me this only lasted about 2 months in both pregnancies.
Good news is that the morning sickness is considered a really good sign in pregnancy, that your body is making the hormones it needs for everything to “stick”.
      Best wishes for ya!!!

  7. QUESTION:
    Zophran for morning sickness?
My doctor prescribed Zophran for morning sickness, since I was getting dehydrated. I was a little hesitant about taking it, but it has worked wonders. Has anyone else taken this drug for morning sickness? It says to take it 2-3 times daily and not to miss a dose, even if you feel well. Does anyone know why you can’t take it only when you feel bad? I looked for information online, and I was planning on calling my doctor tomorrow if I couldn’t find anything. I don’t like the idea of taking meds continuously, and not being able to stop them if I feel well one day. I know that it is usually prescribed to cancer patients, so I didn’t know if it could be used differently for morning sickness. Anyone had any experience with this?

    • ANSWER:
Zofran is safe in pregnancy and often times the only thing that works for morning sickness. As for taking it around the clock this is probably to keep the nausea at bay because if you become severely nauseated and start vomitting you may not be able to keep down the pills and it will take more of the medication to help the nausea.
In cancer patients they use extremely high doses of Zofran and in pregnancy it is a much smaller dose.
Also try sea-bands which are for motion sickness and you wear them on your wrists, completely chemical free, they work on pressure points that help with nausea. I bought these on my cruise to Alaska and it was a difference between night and day for nausea and I actually had a good time. It can help with morning sickness as well and is worth a try as they are inexpensive (Less than ).

  8. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness advice please?
how early in your pregnancy do you get morning sickness? what helps with that?

any good information is welcome! thanks everyone :)

    • ANSWER:
With both my pregnancies I got morning sickness at about 5-6 weeks. I found that I had to get maxolon from the Doctor to be able to do normal day to day things, unless I was spending the day in bed then I wouldn’t take anything.

Other things that helped were never having an empty stomach and lifesaver lollies, drinking ice cold water.

      Hope that helps a little!

  9. QUESTION:
Going on 12 weeks, when will my morning sickness go away.?
My midwife said it should start tapering off at week 12 and be completely gone by 14-16 weeks, but I keep getting contradictory information on the web?

Does anyone know how common morning sickness past the first trimester really is? I am very anxious, because if it doesn’t go away soon, I am really going to have to consider quitting my job before I get FIRED for bad performance.

    • ANSWER:
A medical professional should never tell you that “it should start tapering off at week 12 and be completely gone by 14-16 weeks…”

Every woman is different, every pgcy is different. What a woman experiences with her first pgcy won’t necessarily be the same as the second, third… fifth.

I had all day sickness when pg with both of my children. It lasted for a few months with both and came back later on in pgcy. It was more severe with my daughter, I had hyperemesis gravadarum, which is the most severe type of “all day” sickness. I wasn’t able to look at a glass of water without throwing up. This went on for me for the first 5 months.

What you are experiencing is very common, sorry to say. If you get to the point of not being able to hold ANYTHING down, foods/liquids, then your midwife needs to take action. There are anti-nausea meds available.
I was in the ER many times for IV fluids, and when pg with my daughter, I ended up needing a PICC line to have iv therapy at home.
I wish you all the best.

  10. QUESTION:
    Your morning sickness…When & How?
When did you begin having morning sickness? Before you found out you were pg? A few weeks after? How did you feel and what all happened? Also, how soon do you get sick and when does implantation bleeding occur? Please explain in detain such as weeks before or after your missed period. Any other information is helpful and will help you receive 10 pts. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I began having morning sickness when I was about four weeks pregnant. I just knew I was pregnant..b/c I felt soo sick and bloated.
My breasts where soo sore and hurt so much.

My implatation bleeding happened around the third to fourth week, I had very little spotting, almost like brown color blood for one day and not much, so at that moment i realized i may be pregnant.

Now I am about seven weeks pregnant and my morning sickness it not as bad, some days i feel good and others I feel like i am seasick. It comes back once i nwhile, but does not harm me that much.

  11. QUESTION:
Morning Sickness? (Please see additional details.)?
My wife is pregnant with our first child and is miserable from “morning sickness” do you have any advice on what helps to overcome this discomfort associated with pregnancy? We have searched the internet and found very little helpful information. (Types of food, medication, etc…?) In addition, such options like Tums only provide short relief.

Thanks for taking the time to assist us with this matter.

    • ANSWER:
My biggest morning sickness troubles came from smells and tastes. Eliminate anything that bothers her from the house, i.e. garlic, fish, garbage, whatever makes her feel sick (and make sure everything is CLEAN!). Use aromas to soothe the nausea, like candles, rooms sprays, but nothing too overpowering like air fresheners.

Make sure she eats something, anything, for breakfast. Even crackers.

Ginger tea, peppermint tea, or whatever tea she enjoys will soothe the stomach and provide good smells. I drank peppermint tea and ate lots of candied ginger. Healthy eating always helps too. Not sure what trimester she’s in, but my sickness abated at 9 weeks, and was gone completely at 14 weeks.

For some reason the smell/tatse that disgusted me most when I was pregnant was bergamot! I couldn’t drink Earl Grey tea for a couple of years afterward…

  12. QUESTION:
Had a termination last year and had terrible morning sickness prior.. am at 9 wks now and going to continue…
But have had no morning sickness (unless my partner sprays deodyrant around me… Do you think this means that the sex is different this time around? Has anyone had bad morning sickness with one sex and not the other?.. And why do they only give you the information on how developed the baby is in the early stages of you are going to continue full term? In some ways if I knew what I knew now etc about the developement of baby it may have changed the decision regarding termination.( but there were other influences to this as well and the desicion had to be this at the time)… As always in hindsight! (delighted about this pregnancy)

    • ANSWER:
Every pregnancy is different. You are lucky you are not sick this time around. I was sick throughout my entire pregnancy 12 years ago and only gained 4 pounds of water. Needless to say I don’t have good pregnancies at all. I am pregnant again and going to be having this baby on Wednesday the 11th. Not feeling well at all. I never do but hopefully you will be unlike me and feel well throughout the entire thing.

Congrats to you, mommy. I am sure your baby thanks you for chosing life.

  13. QUESTION:
NOT PREGNANT- What is morning sickness?
I’ve been trying to find information about that feeling you get in the morning not nausea and not morning sickness due to pregnancy, but that feeling you get in your throat as though you just brushed the back of your tongue. I know plenty of people who know what I mean when I say I can’t stomach breakfast in the morning because you just don’t have an appetite when you wake up.

    2 QUESTIONS:

    1. What is that? Vitamin deficiency? IDK.
    2. Is there something I can do to have an appetite in the morning?

I’m sure the answer is on the web somewhere, I just can’t find it because everyone is obsessed with babies and figuring out what it means to throw up in the morning. It’s because the condom broke.

  14. QUESTION:
Help. “Morning” sickness after first trimester. What’s causing it?
My friend is almost 19 weeks pregnant and she’s still getting “morning” sickness. I say “morning” because it happens anytime during the day, it isn’t restricted to the morning. She was told it was only for the first three months, but that’s clearly not the case. She’ll be nauseous just because or she’ll eat something like soup and it will make her nauseous. She’s still throwing up and it’s really getting to her because she’s hungry and can’t keep anything down. So, does anyone know why she’s still getting sick or further information? She doesn’t have a doctor’s appointment for another few days.

    • ANSWER:
That is normal. I had morning sickness that would last all day for the first and second trimester and my whole pregnancy from the beginning to the end I could not eat meat. I couldn’t even eat tuna fish. I lived on little debbie’s and orange soda.

So, what is causing her to still have morning sickness is her pregnancy!

It is all normal… some women don’t get even the slightest hint of morning sickness (lucky them, huh?), and then there are those who get it for the first trimester and then tapers off durning early second trimester. Some get it so bad they lose weight in the first trimester (I lost 10 pounds). Most of us do get morning sickness all day, or any time of day.

      Its all normal!

    2) How large is it?
    3) How much did it cost?
    4) Was it worth it (to you)?

I’m doing some priliminary research, and it’s tough to find ANY information will fighting with a squirming 17 month old and an evil dose of morning sickness!

ANY information would be greatly appreciated, and yes. We are planning on visiting with a kitchen designer next week.

      1. I did it myself
      2.3ftx8ft
3.00. that included the range top

  18. QUESTION:
    Could this be morning sickness?
My husband and I have been trying to have a baby since he got back from Iraq 9 months ago. I got pregnant for the first time in June, but ended up losing the baby in July at 6 weeks. My mom has a genetic disorder called a balanced translocated chromosome. After testing, we found out I have the same thing. Basically two of our chromosomes swapped information. This leads to miscarriages due to the fact that some babies will have severe chromosome problems. The miscarraige is just a way of my body telling me they were not healthy. My last miscarriage was a blighted ovum, where my sac was empty-nothing formed inside it. I had all the pregnancy syptoms: sore breasts, backache, headaches, fatigue. My hormones were in the correct range when they did my bloodwork. I did not get morning sickness. My mom, who had 8 miscarriages, said she did not get morning sickness with any of her miscarriages, however she did with us healthy ones. (There’s three of us). I am now 4 weeks 5 days pregnant and have felt a bit different in this pregnancy. I have just felt off-normal lately. Not sick, but not normal. Yesterday I started feeling sick mid-afternoon. I thought it was something I ate, laid down to nap, and woke up feeling better. After my dinner, though, I felt sick again. I felt vomit in the back of my throat, yet never threw up. My mom got very sick with morning sickness, however she gags and throws up at the slightest things. It takes a LOT for me to throw up. Usually I just feel so sick yet never throw up. I felt it again this morning after eating. I don’t really have nausea, just that feeling like I might throw up. Could this be morning sickness? I’m overall pretty calm, I know there’s nothing I can do if its a miscarriage, but I am really hoping this pregnancy works out. So if anyone experienced morning sickness like this, please let me know! Thank you!
Thank you for the answers and the sympathy. It was very, very hard. But when we least expected it again, I got pregnant! Trying to keep realistic though, just in case. I have been to my PCM and had bloodwork done. We are with Tricare, which is the military health insurance. The way it works you have to get a referral from your Primary Care Manager to an OB. Then my OB gave me a referral to a Fetal & Maternal Medicine Specialist. Now because this is a new pregnancy I have to get a whole new referral. It takes about two weeks for the whole process. I had lost the baby before my referral even went through! So this time they are putting in an emergency referral. Should be able to see an OB this week. Hoping he’ll do an ultrasound..that should help figure out if its the same thing or not.

  19. QUESTION:
My 1st OB appointment yesterday – what my doctor said about morning sickness…?
I had my 1st appointment yesterday and my doctor gave some good advice on morning sickness. One thing that I’ve read on here quite a bit is taking B12 supplements. Also she said to try taking 1/2 of a Unisom sleeping pill before bed. She said the sleep aid in the pill is actually prescribed for nausea. Hmm, I think I might try that! This morning sickness is awful! I just thought I would share that bit of information with all of you. But of course, ok it with your doctor first.
Oh I forgot to say this too – my doctor also told me to eat many small meals throughout the day. She said that morning sickness gets worse when you have an empty stomach.

    • ANSWER:
Yep – vitamin B12 works wonders for nausea! My OB’s office even offers shots of the stuff if you’re too sick to keep the pill down! My OB’s office has also suggested Ginger Root supplements or drinking ginger tea / eating ginger cookies, etc. But, the B12 has by far helped me the most!

      Congrats!

  20. QUESTION:

  21. QUESTION:
Did the Morning Sickness drug Bendectin/Debendox cause birth defects ?
Did Bendectin/Debendox cause birth defects ?
Although removed from production by Merrell Dow (just in case it was problematic) does anyone know if there is any proof that this drug , prescribed pre 1980′s for morning sickness during pregnancy caused birth malformations ?

In Australia a Dr William McBride (who was struck off the Dr’s registry for scientific fraud) brought to light deformities caused by Thalidomide and was investigating Bendectin/Debendox when he was de registered.

I gather he felt there was a campaign against him by the drug companies (understandably) but after his case there wasn’t much in the media but strangely the drug was removed/withdrawn from sale.

Any Information, cases, lobby groups or articles suspicious of the connection between Bendectin/Debendox and birth defects would be most welcome.

I have heard it said by Medical practitioners that they think there is a strong likelihood of a connection but they wouldn’t stand up in court to say that.

    • ANSWER:
Whether this specific drug has been proved to be linked to birth defects I couldn’t say but currently there is NO drug on the market for morning sickness as a result of the problems found with drugs in the past, obviously the best well known being thalidomide.

  22. QUESTION:
Can I start Maternity Leave Early due to Severe Morning Sickness?
I work at a second hand store and have been there for almost 10 months. I am only 9 1/2 weeks pregnant but I am experiencing SEVERE morning sickness that has made me call into work a few times because I couldn’t get out of bed or hold down the vomitting! Also today I had my first panic attack in 3 years because of stress at work and almost blacked out…at WORK! I really cannot continue to work as I feel I am not physically able to and mentally I am just way too stressed out. I also have a 4 year old that I take care of and a new puppy as well as a 3 bedroom house so I have a lot of responsibility.
I want to take my pregnancy leave early but in Ontario, you can only start 17 weeks before your due date which for me would be August 6th, 2011. I can’t do this another 3 months.
My doctor told me I could start my pregnancy leave at any time but my employer is saying I can’t and I have to wait until August unless I have a severe medical condition. I don’t know but I think throwing up every day and constant nausea and almost blacking out at work is a medical condition. My doctor wouldn’t write me a sick note which is why I can’t take sick leave and just go on that until Maternity leave would start. So I have to choose one of these options:
    1. Start my pregnancy leave now, if possible…which is my best choice becase I am not planning on going back to the same job anyways so it’s not like I’d have to come back to work within a year.
    2. Quit my job and collect maternity leave 8 weeks before my due date…which is law in Ontario.
These are my only two optioins unless anyone has any other ideas? I cannot continue working nor do I want to. It’s too much stress on me and my baby not to mention my boyfriend and son are having to deal with my depression and stress from work. Any moms in the similar situation.
Please only answer if you actually know any legal information that could help me or been in the same situation. Thanks. Next day I work is Monday, want to have this figured out by then.

    • ANSWER:
I was in a similar situation. I worked in an unsafe environment (under the best of circumstances let alone while pregnant). I tried on numerous occasions to have them modify my workload to accommodate my needs, which they never did. I ended up taking short-term disability because I had a low lying placenta, which by itself is not a concern, but is when you aren’t safe at work.

This article is the policy on discrimination because of pregnancy and breastfeeding from the Ontario Human Rights tribunal is very helpful http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/resources/Policies/PolicyPregBreastfeedEN/pdf

especially pg 17 which talks about a duty to accommodate the special needs of a pregnant worker.

Since they don’t seem to be doing that and you are having panic attacks (the morning sickness is hard because it can be argued that it could get better, although mine never did!) you may be able to get a doctors recommendation (even if its a different doctor) to write that you need to be off and get you some form of disability until you claim your mat leave.

Hope this helps a little bit! Good luck!!!

  23. QUESTION:
Once a woman gets pregnant, how soon could she experience “morning sickness”?
Will she feel sick just one week after becoming pregnant? A few weeks? One Day?

Would love to know about some web sites that have information on this. Thanks in advance!
I’ve been so sick to my stomach lately and feel like I’m going to throw up. It really reminds me of when I had morning sickness with my first child. However, I took a pregnancy test today, and it was negative. I wonder what else it could be?

    • ANSWER:
Generally the worst of the symptoms including morning sickness tend to hit full force at 6 weeks pregnant (about 4 weeks after conception). The earliest it can happen is about 8-10 days after conception because it takes that long for the sperm to find the egg, the fertilized egg to implant in the uterus, and your body to start producing pregnancy hormone enough to cause pregnancy symptoms. Before this happens, your body doesn’t even know it’s pregnant so any symptoms including morning sickness one might feel just a day after sex can absolutely be disregarded as psychosomatic.

  24. QUESTION:
how far into a pregnancy does it take before getting morning sickness?
I am wondering how far along in a pregnancy does morning sickness start? I don’t even know if i am pregnant, my boyfriend and I always use condoms and I’m on the pill, but I went on vacation without him and when i got back (last monday) we didn’t use a condom because we wanted it without for once and i was taking my birth control pill on time every day, but on that monday i also took another pill which i just found out can sometimes stop the birth control from working, Starting the very next day i was starting to feel nauseous (not to bad though) at random points in the day, now, a little over a week later, I have still been feeling nauseous at random points in the day, but i haven’t thrown up or anything yet, I have also been feeling more gassy other than those two things i don’t really notice anything else different, i have a week before i start my period so i am wait to see if it comes before taking a test to find out, so I was just wondering if it is possible to have these symptoms this soon if i was pregnant? does it sound like I could be?
Sorry about all the information and thanks for helping!
It’s only been a week since we had sex without a condom, i didn’t think i could take a test yet? or can I? I thought i had to wait to see if i skip my period..
Thank you everyone, I’ll make sure to pick best answer later.

    • ANSWER:
It’s possible that you could be pregnant, but you’ll have to wait a while to test still. It’s very unlikely that you’d be experiencing pregnancy-related nausea already, though. Usually, if you’re going to get morning sickness it’ll start somewhere between 6-8 weeks. Some women don’t get it at all though. It’s probably just your nerves or stress or maybe a stomach bug making you nauseous at this point.

Edit: The most sensitive home pregnancy test, First Response Early Result, can detect pregnancy hormone in only some women at 6 days before a missed period. I’d wait until 1 day before your period is due, at the earliest, to test. I used a First Response at 3 days before my period was due and got a negative, then 1 day before I was due and it was positive. Good luck!

  25. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
With my first two kids, I only felt slightly sick, with this baby ( my third) the nasueas was fairly bad, but drinking some Gingerale (if in the UK American ginger ale, u can get it at spar) took care of that, it started earily on and lasted till around the second trimester.

  26. QUESTION:
“Morning” sickness and vitamin b6 & b12? Any experience?
With my first pregnancy I suffered from “morning” sickness really bad. I threw up and felt nauseas from morning till night. It lasted from about 7 weeks to 18 weeks. I have recently come across information that vitamin B6 & b12 can help. Does anyone have any experience with this? What dosage did you take? How much did it help? I’m pretty sure I am pregnant again as my period is late and I just don’t want to go through the same thing again, especially not while taking care of a toddler lol =).

    • ANSWER:
I was also sick from the beginning until around 17 weeks and my doctor gave me b natal lollipops and they actually made me feel worse. It was like a sucker with B6 in it and it didn’t help one bit. Sleeping a lot was the only thing that made me feel any better.

  27. QUESTION:
    Mustang has morning sickness?
I have a 2002 Mustang GT with an automatic transmission. When I start the car in the morning, I let it warm up a little before I put it into reverse. It goes back fine but when I go to put it back in drive, it takes approximately 3-4 seconds & then the car tries to shudder but I just take my time giving it gas & it goes fine. But, if I park the car for awhile, after moving it in the morning, I start it & put it in reverse & it won’t go right into reverse but takes about 3-4 seconds and then when I go forward it will try to shudder. If I am going forward out of a parking space, etc., I will get the shudder. I went to a transmission shop and he told me that my fluid is OK. It shows a lot of highway miles (as I drive the freeway each morning to work). He told me to put something called LubeGard in the transmission & to let it work itself into the system to soften the seals. It worked for about a week & now the shudder has started again. I have tried to call him back to see if there is something else I can add (which I don’t want to mix stuff that won’t mesh together) or we need to do a transmission service & go from there but have not heard back. Does anyone have any information. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
What’s most likely happening is that the some of the parts in the transmission are hardening or becoming brittle… seals and O-rings do that over time and due to high temperatures inside the case. The pressure doesn’t build up as fast as it should by design… thus it takes a few seconds for the transmission to “kick-in” and engage. As you noticed on your car, it still shudders for a bit even after the car starts to move… and again, that’s because there isn’t enough pressure in one particular place in the transmission to keep the power constant and even like it’s supposed to be. After the trans is fully warmed up and “hot”, there will be maximum sealing… so you might see the trouble go away until the trans cools off again.

What he told you to do might have been a solution that helped out for a day, a week, a month, a year… or even longer. However, there’s no way to know how long or even if it would help at all. It’s a crap shoot. You just happened to get a week out of the bottle of Lubeguard… bummer. But at least you know what’s happening. Since I just thought of it… has anyone plugged into the computer to see if there are any error codes? You might want to do that, just to be sure there isn’t anything else going on that you don’t know about. I’ll also say that I’m writing what I am based on a few assumptions… such as there’s nothing else wrong with the car. After all, it might not be the trans but some other simple part that’s crapping out. Like what? A vacuum modulator… if your car has one. That’s one of the reasons I asked about any error codes. It’s important to check everything over first hand and in real life before diving into a trans rebuild because that’s the last thing you want to do if there isn’t anything wrong with it. Mis-diagnosing a fault can be very costly so make sure the diagnosis is correct. That would be easy for me to do since I’m basing what I write only on what you’ve written.

So… let’s assume what I think is correct. What’s the permanent solution? I hate to say it… but… a total tear-down, cleaning and inspection of your trans along with a flawless re-assembly. It needs to have any hard parts replaced that are worn beyond specs (hard parts are shafts, gears, etc) and all the “soft” parts replaced. Soft parts are all the seals and gaskets. Essentially, that means the trans needs to be rebuilt. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news… but that is the ONLY real and permanent solution. This type of problem never truly goes away… and even if you dump in a bottle of goo and it works, there’s no way to know how long it’ll help. The bottom line is that parts just wear out over time and miles… and you did mention that your car has a lot of highway miles on it. The odds are that it’s just time for a rebuild, it’s just that simple.

Also, at this stage it doesn’t matter whether the fluid is 100% fresh or not… because the fluid has nothing to do with it when seals are old and not functioning like they’re supposed to be. Seals either fully seal or they don’t. They either hold line pressure to the minimum requirements or they don’t. In short, yours don’t seem to be doing the job… so they need to be replaced by new ones. Again, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it’s all a part of owning and maintaining a car. Best wishes!

  28. QUESTION:
    Girlfriends morning sickness! Please Help!?
    Hi there,

My fiance is 8 weeks gone but is being sick from the minute she wakes up till the minute she falls asleep.

It’s getting her really down as she cannot eat drink or go out it’s that bad.

I can’t cuddle her, hold her hands or anything, this has been happening for 3 weeks now.

I have been told to try a rich tea biscuit in the morning but she sicks it up straight away.

Are there any tablets or methods to rid her of this feeling? I feel terrible for her seeing her like this.

If you need more information about the pregnancy just ask and I will update the question.
No not been to the doctors yet we have just got back from a week in Egypt and i’m starting to get a bit worried now

    • ANSWER:
This sounds a lot like hyperemasis ( I probably spelled that wrong ) something I had when I was pregnant. I know this might sound bad but the thing that actually helped me the most through out my pregnancy and probably even kept me and my daughter alive was taking a hit of weed a day. It really helped me feel better and even gave me the munchies so I was able to eat. It is actually safer to take than zofran which is the most common prescription for hyperemasis. you should talk to her doctor about zofran if you’re anti weed. But weed really can be used as a medican and has less side affects than any other anti nausea medican. Try resurching hyperemasis and see if this sounds like what she is going through. It is a verry serious condition which in some cases can cause a misscaraig and even death to the mother as well as the baby

  29. QUESTION:
    Severe morning sickness help?
My wife will be 8 months pregnant soon and is one of the few unlucky lady’s to have it really bad, she’s eaten very little, and most of it’s been vomited up. She can drink water in little increments and is almost always nauseated. I’m wondering if there’s anything she can take or drink that will help her, I’ve looked up information and found she’s probably suffering from Starvation Ketosis, I bought her a couple power-aids and a box of saltines and and wheat thins, is there anything that would work better for her? We plan on calling her OBGYN in the morning and settling this with some medication to help her out. Any knowledgeable advice will help! Please and thank you.

    • ANSWER:
She’s probably also suffering from severe hydration if she isn’t able to keep anything down. I would take her to the hospital so they can give her and the baby some fluids, which should also help with some of the nausea.

If it’s just the nausea you can try the vitamin B-6 or I’ve heard some people swear by ginger.

If she’s miserable, why not try and fix the problem now instead of waiting till the morning. If she’s suffering that probably means the baby is as well. Take precaution, even if you think you might be over reacting.

  30. QUESTION:
Severe morning sickness and nausea (Not pregnant)?
Every single morning before I go to school, I feel to so sick to even get out of bed. My stomach sometimes hurts like crazy so it all but prevents me from going to school. I don’t think I’m pregnant because I just got my period 6 months ago and it’s been going no regularly. I have not had sex and I’m only 12 so that cannot be the case. Does anyone know what is wrong with me?? The thing is that, usually by around noon, the nausea and the pain goes away. COULD I HAVE A TUMOR?? Please give me any information that you can. Thank you.
Along with the nausea, I have stomach pain and sometimes even hyperventilation or heavy breathing or panting.

    • ANSWER:
You could just be having a tough time with your body getting used to having periods, but there are also other things it could be ranging from panic attacks to other more complicated causes.

If this has been going on for 6 months it is far too long. Not only does it make you feel rubbish, it will probably be having an effect on your school work by now. Get your mum to go with you to the doctors. If the doctor can’t sort you out, insist they refer you to some who will do more tests and find out exactly what is causing you to feel so rough.

Hope things get better for your soon (((hugs)))

  31. QUESTION:
How early have people ever had morning sickness?
I was sick alot this morning, not really much came up but at times i could tell something wanted to.
This happened about 5 times and i just woke up and was sick.
I feel like my breasts have grown and i keep getting slight period twinges but i assumed this was where my period was coming.
Thinking about it now, i’ve been weeing alot lately but i haven’t been drinking anymore than usual.
I’ve been really down and felt quite depressed.
So i was wondering, i am actually on the pill but i am concerned it may not have worked this month, i finish my last pill today (i haven’t taken it yet) and then give or take a day i should come on my period.
Is this too early for signs though? What’s the earliest anyone has ever had symptoms and what were they?
Don’t tell me to go and get a pregnancy test, i am having a blood test tomorrow as i am being tested for other things so i guess it would come up then.
Just please, any information i’d be really grateful.
    Thanks x

    • ANSWER:
My morning sickness started at about 6 weeks.

I have no idea if it’s too early for you as you have given no indication of when your last period was.

Also – your blood test won’t show up that you are pregnant unless they specifically test for that.

  32. QUESTION:
When do HCG levels peak – I am suffering mild morning sickness?
Hi, I am 33 and recently became pregnant with my husbands and my first child. I have another child to a previous marriage she is 14 and I suffered terribly with her with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I was in and out of hospital and on drips all the time.
I have decided after 12 years of being with my current husband that I would like a child with him, but I am very fearful about going through the sickness again.
I have been following a pattern of taking ginger tablets and having ginger tea, also been eating every couple of hours small meals. I am 6 weeks now and I started feeling nausea last Monday. So far it has only been mild, I would feel sick, but not vomiting between 8am-12pm and then again later in the afternoon when I get home.
So far I have manage not to vomit, but was wondering if it will get worse or if what I am doing is helping to keep it away. With my first child I was sick from the minutes I found out and it didn’t stop.
Does anyone have any words of advice or information that might help me work out if this is the worst it is going to get.

    • ANSWER:
      I forget. I think it’s around 12 weeks.

  33. QUESTION:
Based on this information, is it possible that I could be pregnant?
Am I pregnant? I’ve been craving sour stuff. Like, I bought 3 half gallons of Minute Maid Limeaid and I’m on the 2nd carton. Also, I had sex 3 days ago, with a condom, and the guy did not ejaculate while we were having sex. In addition to that, I haven’t had any morning sickness and I got drunk last night. My questions: Am I pregnant? If I had sex 3 days ago, would it be too soon to tell? I got drunk last night. Can that hurt the baby if I am pregnant?

    • ANSWER:
why does your picture show a guy?

      troll

  34. QUESTION:
how early can morning sickness start?
I live with my husband, and I am on the Pill, but lately I have been feeling really queasy on and off for the last week or so. I really started thinking about it yesterday when he was making breakfast and the smell of the bacon made me have to go outside before I actually was ill. I have never been averse to this smell before, and at first I thought I might have just eaten something that did not agree with me. I have been really sore and stiff for a few days, and insanely tired. To be honest I have never had children before, and everything I look at online seems to have different information. Can anyone who has had experience with this give me a clue.

    Thanks.
I took an at home test, but I am not due to start my period for another week and a half. It came out negative, but said that you should not expect results until 5 days before you are supposed to start. I really cannot ask my family because just the thought would panick them and I would never hear the end of it. I read that it could start as early as 2 weeks, but that seemed strange.

    • ANSWER:
my first pregnancy i think it started about 5 maybe 6 weeks, with my second it was about 8 weeks. everyone is different though, and morning sickness can start before a missed period, my sister was throwing up 5 days before her period was due with all 4 of her pregnancy’s

  35. QUESTION:
How did you cure the morning sickness all day????
Alright, I have been feeling oh so sick. I am 8 weeks pregnant with twins. I have been sick all day long. Sometimes I vomit and sometimes I don’t. Also I find it so hard to sleep at night. My tummy just feels like its in pain, but nothing to worry about. I have no interest in food, which i need to. My doctor says I need to gain weight.Just wondering if any other moms or soon to be moms have had this experience. I just feel drained all the time and don’t want to do nothing. I barely have worked and when I do it is usually half days cause I just feel to sick or worn out. Any helpful information would be appricated. I am pregnant for my first time, so I am new at this. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first (not twins) but i have had all day morning sickness since i was 5 weeks and I know how horrible and draining it is! :( Make sure you try to drink alot of water and eat when you feel like and what ever you feel like. Talk to your doc about anti-nausea pills they may be able to help. Other wise i have been taking ginger tablets which at least allowed me to eat again, still nauseated but i can handle eating now where as before i was like you and couldnt even stand talking or thinking about food,ewww. If you are feeling really drained then make sure you rest enough and dont over do it at work, if you need to go home or stay home to rest then do so. Your new baby comes before everything. Im still hoping that this will pass soon and i hope so for you too!! Good luck.

  36. QUESTION:
17 weeks preg and feeling dizzy and morning sickness?
if i dont eat as soon as i wake up i feel sick. i have pills to help for nausea. one for when ever i need to take it 6-8 hours(promethazine) and one to take with every meal and before bed(metoclopram). i take one or the other every time i feel like im going to throw up but it only helps temporarily. i work a lot thru out the day so i cant eat much. but when i dont eat i feel dizzy and throw up stomach acid.. but when im not eating at work i dont exactly feel very hungry. like right now im not really hungry but feel sick. last time i ate was noon and its now 7:11pm again im not hungry(had big lunch) but am gonna have to eat cuz i know im going to throw up. i know im not pose to drink soda but i find at work if i drink a little solo cone( those little paper cones you find in like dealerships with the huge gallon of water) of dr pepper it helps me a little. but if i let it go by without getting some more i get dizzy. then if i dont eat so much after i drink the soda i throw up the soda. sigh. i know this is alot of information, im just really looking for some advice.

    • ANSWER:
Hi, I had morning sickness all nine months with my son, even threw up in delivery. Morning sickness is always worse when you don’t eat, and eating just doesn’t feel good when you feel nauseous, I know. I found that eating pretzels with salt, like Rolled Gold (is that the name, I think I spelled it wrong lol), the salt helped neutralize the stomach acid and I didn’t feel as sick. Everyone is different though, and hopefully you stumble across what makes you less ill when you eat it.

I discovered at about 18 weeks along that my saliva was different, and it was this saliva that caused my to feel ill a lot of the time. When pregnant, your saliva can sometimes get tiny air bubbles in it, and when you inadvertently swallow it, it adds air to your stomach, causing nausea. That saliva only went away AFTER my son was born =/

As for the dizziness, I think low blood sugar can cause that. If you are avoiding food due to nausea, you are depriving yourself and your baby of many things. Try and keep something, even a hard candy in your pocket to keep your blood sugar up.

Try to eat just a few bites even, bigger meals tend to make you more ill. Five small meals a day is better than three big ones. I know you work a lot, but your doctor should be able to write you a note excusing you to have a few extra breaks, mine did. (I worked in a production line)

They say laying on your left side is good for you and your baby (I found it actually eased the nausea).

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that the morning sickness passes for you! Congratulations!

    Taking Zofran for motion sickness?
I am flying from Atlanta to Denver in about a week (3.5 hr flight) and I suffer from severe motion sickness. My doctor prescribed Zofran for it. 38. QUESTION:
How do i know if im pregnant?
Ok so I have not gotten my period for about 2 months, my boobs are sore and im tired alot (altho im always tired). I have taken 3 test they all have said no. However i have a friend that has 3 kids and all of the test she took said no. I have had no morning sickness or anything like that. Any information anyone can give me would be appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
The enormous hormonal changes taking place during pregnancy trigger a variety of symptoms. Some women will experience all of the symptoms of early pregnancy, while others may have only a few.

Most symptoms – such as amenorrhoea (missed period), morning sickness or fatigue – can also be caused by stress, illness or other events, so a suspected pregnancy needs to be confirmed with urine or blood tests.

These tests check for the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Absolute and irrefutable proof of pregnancy is the baby’s heartbeat (which can be heard through a special listening device somewhere between weeks 10 and 12), or viewing the baby with an ultrasound scan.

If you suspect you may be pregnant, see your doctor or family planning professional for confirmation.

The symptoms of early pregnancy can include:

      Missed period (amenorrhoea)
      Morning sickness
      Breast changes
      Fatigue
      Frequent urination
      Mood changes
      Food cravings.

      Hope this info helps!

ANY helpful information on TRAVEL SICKNESS/PANIC ATTACKS/NERVES?
In a few weeks time me and my best friend are going to southampton, its the first time i’ve been away on my own (apart from leeds festival) and im really nervous. One of the main reasons why im nervous is because I have to wake up for our flight at 4am, then theres a short car journey, a plane then a bus for 1h 30mins.. all this is during the morning! I dont normally get travel sick, but my nerves seem to take over and it ends up making me feel really lousy and sick – however i havent been sick because of my nerves as of yet, I was just wondering if theres any helpful tips such as what i should not eat before the flight? what i should eat to settle my stomache? what drinks should i stick to? breathing techniques? .. I know i sound so silly, but it really does effect me and this trip is for my birthday, i dont want it to get ruined by me feeling ill or i wont want to go around shopping! :( please any useful information or experiances will be MUCH appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
In this case it is best to stick to fluids especially fruit juices, and semisolid foods like soups, mashed potatoes and jello.
You might want to get a prescription of Dramamine (meclizine) from your doctor which is a medicine for Motion Sickness and Vertigo and you can take that just before your flight.
Deep breathing and holding in your breath for few seconds also helps.

  40. QUESTION:
What do you think about pregnancy in high schools?
I am writing a paper for my university class and I am wanting other opinions on it. My subject is pregnancy in high schools and whether or not schools should kick the girls out or be more flexible to their needs…within reason of course! I think that schools should let the girls stay in school and just be more lenient to their needs (i.e. later start for morning sickness, snacking in class, etc.) please give me all information and possibly links to help out. Thanks!

  41. QUESTION:
signs of early pregnancy!!! taken from the net! a good list!!?
I am overdue for my period and experiencing cramping, headaches, pimples, fatigue, gas, going to the toilet more often and many other symptoms, Yet i am unsure whether i am just due for my period or could i be pregnant.. I am only at the 4-5 wk mark so have no real clue as yet! I came across the list below on the net! Thought this might answer a few Q’s in regards to the symptoms and the ppe who ask could they actually be pregnant or not this month!

You may start noticing pregnancy symptoms and/or be able to detect pregnancy after implantation, which occurs from around 7-10 days post ovulation. If you have conceived, the embryo starts to produce hCG after implantation and not before, so it is not possible to detect pregnancy or have pregnancy symptoms before this time. So the longer you wait to test after ovulation, the more accurate the result will be and the darker the potential positive test line may be. Pregnancy testing should ideally be done from the day your period would have been due.

What Pregnancy Symptoms Might I Experience?
Below is a list of pregnancy symptoms which you may find signal pregnancy for your own body. Remember, every woman and every pregnancy is different, so there’s no need to panic if you don’t have all of the listed pregnancy symptoms. I had absolutely no noticable symptoms (apart from not having a period) with my second pregnancy until 11 weeks.

    High BBT (Basal Body Temperature)
If you regularly chart your cycle and take your temperatures, you will notice that your BBT will remain high throughout your luteal phase. Progesterone causes your BBT to rise upon ovulation and stay elevated should you be pregnant. If you are not pregnant, your BBT will drop right down and you’ll get your period as normal.

    Missed / No Period
One of the first pregnancy symptoms you may notice is that your period does not arrive. While this symptom is one we most commonly associate with pregnancy, there may be other reasons why a period hasn’t arrived, for example high levels of stress, major illness or surgery. On the other hand, it’s possible to continue to have your periods during pregnancy. Some women may bleed for just a few months or even their whole pregnancy. (See our topic on Bleeding in Pregnancy for more information).

    Morning Sickness
Another well known pregnancy symptom is morning sickness. Don’t let it’s name fool you – morning sickness can pay you a visit any time of day, so make sure you eat enough and avoid letting your blood sugar levels drop. Ginger is a great natural remedy for nausea so it’s worth a try, although some women find that nothing seems to help their morning sickness, which normally hangs around for the first trimester before getting better or if you are unlucky, the second trimester or even whole pregnancy. (See our topic on Common Pregnancy Ailments for more information).

    Breast Changes
From very early on in pregnancy a symptom you may notice is changes in your breasts, including:

•Nipples may be tender and sensitive – some women describe their nipples to be irritatingly sensitive!
•Breast may be sore and / or lumpy
    •Nipples may deepen in colour
•Veins may become more noticeable and enlarged in the breast area
•Areolas may darken (circles around your nipples)
•The little ‘bumps’ on your areolas (Montgomery’s Tubercles) may increase and / or enlargen
    Increased Cervical Mucus
A surge in progesterone often results in a surge of creamy cervical mucus production. Some women may notice a little, and some notice much more.

    Fatigue
When you first become pregnant, your metabolism steps up a few gears in order to support your developing baby as well as your own body, which creates one big workload! You may become so immensely tired that you feel that you need to sleep more than usual. Not only that, but the hormone progesterone which is required in high levels during pregnancy has a sedating effect. No wonder you feel so very tired! If you need to rest or sleep, don’t fight your body – it needs it!

    Frequent Urination
As soon as a week after conception, you may notice yourself dashing off to the toilet more often, only to find that you’re urinating small amounts! This happens because the embryo starts to secrete the pregnancy hormone hCG, which signals for the blood supply to increase in the pelvic area. This results in the bladder becoming irritable and it passes even small amounts of urine. You may find you will wake in the night to urinate more often than usual.

    Cramping
This symptom of early pregnancy can also be an unnerving one for parents-to-be, as often there is a fear of miscarriage. However even when not pregnant, your uterus is continually contracting. When pregnant, the foetus grows and pushes against the walls of your uterus, which causes it to contract – this is very normal.

If the cramping is accompanied by bleeding, see your doctor who can assess the situation to see if you may be having a miscarriage. However do n
i took a home pregnancy test a couple days ago but did it in the arvo.. showed neg… i think i will go to the drs this week if i keep feeling like i am
I guess my Main symptoms atm, are i
    - have cramping, tonight its been constantly ever since i got home from work..
    - i am going to the toilet to urinate More often!
    - i am getting pimples
    - more tired
    - hot flushes
    - cranky
    - gone off smell of coffee and often feel ill after drinking it
think this is about it! still thinking could it all be in my head or is my period around the corner.. am doubtful as the test i did here turned out neg!

    • ANSWER:
With my first pregnancy, somehow I “knew” I was pregnant. I felt fuller in my pelvic region (it was not like my stomach was full or anything), but I had only a handful of other symptoms. Going to the bathroom often is one, but it is a bit misleading – its sometimes not such a huge ‘urge’ to go like they describe in books. My basal temperature was higher, but you have to use a Basal thermometer to see it (and you need to have taken your temperature daily before getting pregs too so you can compare).
With my second, I had major fatigue right away, but no ‘feeling’ or anything. I found out I was pregnant a few days after being extremely tired (like falling asleep during dinner tired!).
Take a test – you are past your period due date, so you should get a very accurate reading.

  45. QUESTION:
Pregnancy, work and sickness. Please help. UK.?
Called in sick as morning sickness all throughout the night. So I had no sleep and I was still being sick. I got a call back 15 minutes later from a supervisor asking why I called in sick and whether or not I can return to work same day. Advised I would see how I felt but if I was unable to I would definately inform them.

I could go back to work as I never got sleep and I was very sick still.

Returned to work the next day…

I had a back to work meeting where I was told if I was to continue to be sick they will force me to go on maternity leave. Bare in mind I’m 15 weeks. They also said that it’s dangerous having morning sickness this far on in my pregnancy and is a cause for concern.
I was asked what treatment I was on and was I doing everything to stop it. I did advise that I was having ingestetion tablets and Ginger tea. Supervisor then asked me if I was smoking still. I gave up the day before but I refused to answer. Overall I was made out to be a worse person in the world. Worse than cancer I wish I was exaggerating.
Supervisor cont meeting. Telling me this and that and that from a company point of view I was not doing everything I should be doing to prevent my morning sickness as I was still smoking. Please let me point out I don’t smoke any more. That smoking causes and exaggerate morning sickness personallly and medically I thought it was based on HCG levels growing.

Overall for 1 day sickness I have to get my GP to write a report on me for the day I was sick. Is this right??

I spoke to ACAS they have informed me that they’re breaking the law. They are breaching sex discrimination act. Employment act and the data protection act as they do jot require all this information from myself. I mean my work doesn’t need all this info.
Sorry morning sickness is NOT caused by smoking does take a genius to work that one out lol

    • ANSWER:
Your Supervisor could cost your company a lot of money. They are a moron as they do not understand the trouble your employer would be in. You are dealing with a tin pot idiot. You need to be talking to your manager.

Take note of everything your supervisor says and never deal with them unless you have a witness with you. Email me if you need any more support.

  46. QUESTION:
Is it possible to have a miscarriage and still be pregnate?
I went to the hospital 1 week ago and the doctor told me I was having a miscarriage. Young ass of a doctor he was didn’t give me much information just gave me pain pills said that everything should pass on its own and make and appointment to see an ob/gyn when i stopped bleeding. Well I go back to the doctors in a few days. But i’m still gaining weight, i’m having morning sickness, and my breast are still killing me. Is it possible that I’m still pregnate?

    • ANSWER:
Yes. My aunt miscarried at 16 weeks and had a healthy baby at 37 weeks (pregnant with twins). My SIL miscarried, and found out 6 weeks later that she was still pregnant (miscarried an ectopic pregnancy, but apparently also had a normal fetus, as well). You may have been pregnant with multiples-I would go to your regular ob/gyn and get a blood test done to be sure. I am sorry for your loss and hope that you are pregnant!

  47. QUESTION:
Input from doctors would be appreciated. Plz check below for information.?
I’m not sure wether or not i’m pregnant. I’ve been using protection, but for the last week or so i’ve had what i think is morning sickness. I have a doctor’s appiontment scheduled for a few days from now, but i want sum input now. i’ve also taken three pregnancy tests, the first came out positive, the next two negative, i understand that they are not always accurate. What do you think of the situation.

    • ANSWER:
i would say your pregnant its more likely to have a false negative then a false posative….but really all you can do is wait for the doc appoitment and have a blood test its possible that your not that far along and your pregnancy test haven’t dected enough pregnancy hormones to say your pregnant

  49. QUESTION:
i think i MIGHT be pregnant at 16?
about 3 weeks ago i had unprotected sex ……. i know …. it was very stupid i don’t know where my head was at. ALCHOHOL IS EVIL. i got over my period the same day i had the unprotected sex. is it still possible that i got pregnant? i am a little late but not really late enough for significance .. although i have never really been late in my life. my nipples are really sore but i have not had any other common symptoms of pregnancy such as morning sickness. any information that may be helpful is welcome .. but please no bashing. i didn’t post this question for lectures.
no, i do not get my period every 3 weeks. if you read the entire question you’d know that i GOT OVER my period the day i had it 3 weeks ago .. therefore i am due.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,

first things first, try not to worry, everyone makes mistakes and does daft things and loads and loads have women ave been in exactly the same situation as you.

Are you actually late yet, it might be my maths but it seems early for you to be worrying, this website helps calculate your cycle:

      http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/amilate.jsp

It is unlikely you will have conceived at that point in your cycle but yes it is possible and sore nipples may be a symptom.

If you are late it is quite likely to simply be from worrying so go and buy a pregnancy test to put your mind at rest, you can test from the first day your period is due with the main brands. Boots (assuming you are in the UK) do they’re own brand ones which are simple to use and 99% accurate, buy a box of two in case one goes wrong or you need to test again if your period still hasn’t arrived in a week. You can buy an early detection test called First Response if you want to to test now but you find that your period isn’t actually due quite yet. If you want to you can go to the doctor and ask for a test, in the UK you will be treated with total confidence so your family will not be informed.

Have you spoken to anyone else about this yet? If not, you should at least tell a friend, whether you are pregnant or not this is a stressful thing for all women to go through and its much better to have a good friend by your side.

If you are pregnant there is loads of support out there whatever you decide so try not to worry. Even if you are not pregnant though you should consider getting a full test for sexually transmitted diseases at your local GUM clinic, again this would be in total confidence.

Good luck and take care, don’t beat yourself up about it, it doesn’t sound like you’ll be doing it again!

Oh and as for saying ‘but I’ve never been late in my life’- I drank too much just before Christmas and my husband and I got carried away! This month I was two weeks late and positive I must be pregnant because I had never been late in my life, but nope! Your body does funny things when you are worried about something!

  50. QUESTION:
How late can the morning after pill delay your period by?
I had unprotected sex about a month ago on a saturday and purchased the morning after pill on the monday. I have taken the MAP acouple of times before when a condom has split and my period has been fine but this time I am 2 weeks late.
Can the MAP delay a period this much?
I have also recently been treated for thrush, could this delay my period?
I have a son and when i was pregnant with him i knew straight away, not only this i suffered with morning sickness for months. I feel completely fine and “not pregnant”. Although i have noticed i have put on a few pounds but i have quit smoking and i have noticed iv been eating more so i have put my weight gain down to that.
    Please help with any information.

    • ANSWER:
not too sure but last time i took it my next period was 10/11 days late if that helps

Morning Sickness Remedies

Posted by: Admin in Nausea Remedies on October 25th, 2011

Do you think 00004000 you are pregnant? Want to know what are very early pregnancy symptoms? These can vary from woman to woman. Some very basic things which could lead you to believe that you are pregnant are things such as the most obvious missed period. Below are some very early pregnancy symptoms that are most common in women.

Missed periods is a good indication of pregnancy and is the best known symptom of pregnancy but of course further tests would be needed to confirm as there are many different reasons for missed periods including stress, etc. This can be misleading as there are many factors which could cause you to have a missed period or irregular period such as stress, overproduction of progesterone and estrogen hormones, among other causes that can delay or stop this natural process.

Morning sickness and pregnancy have often been thought to go hand in hand but this can also be misleading. If you experience legitimate morning sickness then it would be expected around 4 – 6 weeks but can not be 100% accurate. Nausea & morning sickness occurs within 50% to 95% of all women.

Pregnancy and strange food cravings. Can be false as the reason could be pregnancy or could be as simple as your body may be lacking certain vitamins and minerals, etc. Unusual strange food cravings usually occur within the first trimester.

Cramping can occur within 8 – 10 days after fertilization. This is quit normal. If you have had a record of previous miscarriages then perhaps worth consulting a doctor if cramping occurs.

Fatigue can occur very early in pregnancy, even with days after unprotected sex. Drink plenty of water, something that you should do through our pregnancy.

Phantom pregnancies or false pregnancies can happen often. This happens most often with couples who are trying to have a baby and are very keen to get pregnant.

As can be seen, there are many different misleading signs of pregnancy. The best pregnancy symptom to tell if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test which are very accurate.

I was just on a cruise less than 2 weeks after ovulation, and I was smoking a social cigarrette when I suddenly became absolutely repulsed by it. I put it out in the middle and started to feel sick like I had with my first child. I got home from the cruise the next day–and had a positive test result. So it was about 3 weeks after my last monthly period, and one week or so after conception. The sickness only got worse after that, and I’m 6 weeks today and just started vomitting. So it can happen early. But if it’s happening that ealry it SHOULD show up on a preg test–so go get one, girl!!

  9. QUESTION:
In how many weeks does morning sickness occur?
I know morning sickness differs from woman to woman and occurs during the first trimester. Some woman have it at the beginning of their pregnancy while others have it towards the end. Does anybody know how many “weeks” in do pregnant woman start having morning sickness? I’m between 2 to 3 weeks pregnant and I had bought this new dish soap, which the smell is causing me to feel very nauseous and feel like throwing up. Is this part of pregnancy? Please explain. Also, let’s say I do throw up – does it impact my child that is growing inside of me? Like, will I hurt him/her if I throw up due to morning sickness? Please explain. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Hi Peaches…No, you won’t hurt your baby.. When I felt ill, I would take deep breaths with my head high. When I would first wake up, I would have saltine crackers next to my bed so that I can nibble on them before I raise my head. See, you get sick feeling cuz you don’t have anything in your stomach. It is very normal to feel this way. I also had munchies in my car so when I felt the tightness in my throat, I would snack on crackers in my car. Last, you are at the right time for feeling sick. There is another thing that you can do to prevent the sick feeling….suck on ginger or lemons. You will feel great! Remember, follow the above and you will do fine….I did. :D

I think my wife is pregnant because morning sickness occurred 2 weeks after possible conception. Is there any general way to determine pregnancy by morning sickness? Please really stick to answering my questions not informing me about anything else. Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
Morning sickness does not have to occur everyday. In some cases it does. In my case it was very rare…maybe 3 times in the 1st trimester…that’s it. But like I said some people experience it every morning.
      good luck! :)

  12. QUESTION:
How early after getting pregnant does morning sickness occur?
I highly highly highly doubt I am pregnant, but there’s something going on with my stomach! I feel a lot of pressure and am very dizzy/nauseous a lot, almost as if I feel drunk at random times. Just wondering what the earliest time frame of morning sickness would be….days, weeks, and/or months?? I’d really appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Morning sickness begins around week 6 of pregnancy, peak during week 8 or 9 and wane after week 13. More instant remedies and info at http://usefulinfomorningsickness.blogspot.com/

  13. QUESTION:
does morning sickness occur right after having sex with someone? or it takes a week or so?
our body’s reaction takes place so fast but here’s the thing.. when two persons make love and the woman isn’t sure about herself if she’ll get pregnant right away or not, when does morning sickness exactly occur? and when it does, does it follow that she has to suspect herself for pregnancy?

    • ANSWER:
No, it could not happen right after having sex…if you got sick that soon it was from something else. The egg needs to be fertilized, and then implant in the uterus…which can take 7-10 days after sex. Even then, it is so tiny that there is not enough going on to to make you sick. I think the norm for morning sickness hitting is around 5-6 weeks pregnant, which would be 3-4 weeks after the sex. I’m pretty sure it is possible to have it earlier though, probably around one or two weeks after sex…as soon as the embryo has implanted. I wasn’t sick until about week 6 or 7, but was super tired and had bad cramping starting about 1 and a half to 2 weeks after conception. And if a woman is going to get morning (or night, or all day) sickness, it won’t matter if she knows or thinks she is pregnant or not, it would just happen.

  14. QUESTION:
What is the point of morning sickness?
I was just wondering what the benefits of morning sicknes are. I’ve never been pregnant myself so perhaps I’m missing something but surely it can’t benefit mother or baby in any way since the mother brings back food which she and the baby surely need. Can you enlighten me as to why morning sickness occurs and what the benefits of it are? Thanks for your answers:-)

    • ANSWER:
I don’t believe there are any benefits as such, morning sickness is caused by your hormone production going into overdrive and it makes you nauseous, and you don’t necessarily vomit so it doesn’t mean you or your baby wouldn’t be getting enough nutrients from the food you’re eating.
I found that more fatty/greasy foods made me more nauseous than foods that were ‘good for me’ so maybe it’s your body telling you what foods you should be eating.

  15. QUESTION:
How early can morning sickness occur?
I think I might be pregnant and after doing some research I figured out that if I am, I’m 3 weeks. Within the past week I’ve been so nauseous…it feels a lot like motion sickness. I haven’t vomited but it has also brought on headaches and back aches. It’s too soon before my period to take a test, but I don’t know…I just have a very strong feeling that I am. Mothers intuition? I don’t know. Most websites I have looked at say that morning sickness starts around 6 weeks. Can it be earlier?

    • ANSWER:
i got mine at 4 weeks but i took 2 prego test and they both came out (-).. i had my son 2 1/2 months ago

  16. QUESTION:
How often does morning sickness occur and how early in the pregnancy?
Two days ago I threw up at about 630 in the am and I hAvnt had anything sense except feeling queesy around certain smells is it suppose to happen everyday? And how early does it start if I’m trying to figure out when I conceived

    • ANSWER:
For most people it starts around 6-7 weeks along and it can last throughout the whole pregnancy, but usually stops around the 2nd trimester (13 weeks). Its not just “morning” sickness either, mine was morning/afternoon/evening…not always at the same time.

  17. QUESTION:
How many of you had morning sickness with first pregnancy?
Just trying to see if morning sickness is more common that not in first pregnancies, also, does anyone have any idea why morning sickness actually occurs? Thanks

    • ANSWER:
I had morning sickness throughout the first 6 months of my first pregnancy. It was pretty bad. I was nauseous quite a bit. I threw up, but not that often. I am now on my second pregnancy (19 wks) and still get nauseous but (thank goodness) have only thrown up once! And sorry to say, I am not sure why, exactly, we get it.
I do have to add a comment here, though. I think that perhaps more women who have had morning sickness are going to answer this question than those who have not – possibly skewing your poll. If you haven’t experienced morning sickness, you might not even “click” on this question because it doesn’t relate to you. Just trying to account for any possible inaccuracies in your data search.

  18. QUESTION:
When do the first symptoms of morning sickness occur?
My girlfriend thinks she is pregnant and we are both only 14 and kind of freaking out, any help would be great. She has been getting some of the symptoms (high and low temperatures, tired, loss of appetite, nausea/fainting). It was only the other week though and I don’t know if she just has a virus or what?

    • ANSWER:
      Maybe she has mono.

if she is pregnant, take a pregnancy test

  19. QUESTION:
how many weeks does it take to start feeling morning sickness?
I was just wondering what week morning sickness usually occurs?

    • ANSWER:
I had morning sickness from 6 weeks up until my tenth week. It sure felt like a lot more than that!

  20. QUESTION:
How soon in a pregnancy can morning sickness occur?
    Like, in weeks?

    • ANSWER:
It depends, everyones different. It could happen 3 days after you get pregnant or 3 weeks, or it may not happen at all!

  21. QUESTION:
Why do women get morning sickness?
Did morning sickness occur to humans in nature? Does it serve some evolutionary advantage? Or, is it something environmental – Is it more to do with modern diet and/or exposure to chemicals etc? Do women today, from all different communities, experience morning sickness?

    • ANSWER:
I don’t know but some studies show that it can be linked to a particular level of a certain hormone – and that while it’s unpleasant during the pregnancy it’s actually better for the woman overall as levels of this hormone can affect their chances of getting breast cancer and of having a healthy pregnancy.

So in theory (as nasty as it is) it’s actually a good indicator of health. I didn’t have any morning sickness (my sister used to get it all day long) but thankfully we both had healthy babies, although she had a labour of less than 5 hours and I had one of almost 50 hours…. pffft! lol

  22. QUESTION:
Why does morning sickness occur in the morning? Just from interest?
Is it morning? or after you’ve been sleeping? What causes it?

    • ANSWER:
Morning sickness is just what it’s called. It can occur anytime of the day. Doctor’s believe it’s due to the pregnancy hormone HGC and the degree in which you suffer from morning sickness boils down to how well your individual body deals with the change. Since this hormone is only present during pregnancy, your body can’t build up a ‘defense’ to it and get used to it prior to pregnancy.

  23. QUESTION:
How early can Morning sickness occur?
    Anytime?
Thanks guys. I woke up today feeling very sick, i thought it may of been hunger pains but i ate, and it just made it worse. I have been told I cannot take a pregnancy test until 22nd, because i took the morning after pill. Also, i’ve been waking up really early like 7 am and i don’t usually get up until after midday!

Do u think i could be pregnant?

    • ANSWER:
Most drs and websites will tell you it doesn’t occur until 4-6 weeks after implantation, but i experienced it after 1 week! And it never went away…24/7 all 40 weeks! good luck!

  24. QUESTION:
Why does “morning sickness” occur around a particular time during the day?
I get my morning sickness around 5:00p.m. everyday. Why does that happen, and why does it not happen during the rest of the day?

    • ANSWER:
I’m not sure why as mine lasted all day and was triggered by smell, especially freshly baked bread. Ugh, what used to smell so sweet still makes me queasy. Ha! But, if I were you, since you know it’s going to hit around 5 pm, start eating an hour or so beforehand. I found I got the most queasy if I had an empty stomach so protein and things that last awhile worked best (oatmeal, yogurt, eggs etc.). Congratulations and good luck!

  25. QUESTION:
How long after you conceive does morning sickness occur?

    • ANSWER:
I hate to say this in nearly every post… but… every woman and every pregnancy is different! Some can start to feel queasy right away… some are sick morning noon and night for the whole 9 months… some don’t feel a moment of sickness… some women are sick with one pregnancy and not at all with another. What I can tell you is that the pregnancy hormone hcg is in it’s peak between weeks 8 and 12… and that is the time frame that is most common for women to feel the most sickness. Personally, I would generally start feeling it around 6 weeks, but it would be the worst between 8-12 weeks, then gradually taper off, and then just feeling sick here and there when my stomache is empty for the rest of the pregnancy.

  26. QUESTION:
When did you start experiencing morning sickness?
Hi, I just want to see how long it can take or how quick morning sickness can occur.

    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
Right before/shortly after I found out I was pregnant (6 weeks or so). I only had it for a few days and it stopped. Every pregnancy is different, in that some will never have morning sickness and others will have it their entire pregnancy. More commonly, it starts around 5-6 weeks and ends sometime in your second trimester (usually the beginning).

  27. QUESTION:
Please describe morning sickness,I think I might be pregnant?
I had severe pain in my lower belly yesterday afternoon. It lasted 2 hours.I felt really sick and I couldn`t walk.Today i felt sick too, but there was no pain in the belly, just sickness. I didn`t vomit, but I wasn`t far from it either. If I am pregnant it would be only 2 weeks.Does morning sickness occur this early in pregnancy?I am also hungry all the time?Do you think this might be a sign of pregnancy?

    • ANSWER:
Its different for every woman. My mom threw up 24/7 for the first 3 months. so far I have just felt naseusated all day, but haven’t thrown up.

  28. QUESTION:
Does morning sickness come and go?
This is my second pregnancy and I am only 5 weeks along, but I have been having morning sickness off and on for about 2 weeks now. I didn’t have it all during my first pregnancy. I guess I always thought that you got morning sickness at the same time every day …and sometimes I do. My morning sickness usually kicks in on the afternoons and evenings. But the other day I didn’t get it at all but then it resumed the next day. Does morning sickness occur at different times of the day and come and go on some days too?

    • ANSWER:
It certainly can. You’d be better off asking your doctor about it, but I experienced the same things. Most of the time, I found that if I ate certain foods, it would trigger the nausea. I just had to learn to stay away from certain foods at certain times.
Sometimes, nausea can be triggered by your blood sugar levels. Have you been tested or have a history of gestational diabetes? If there’s a history, you may want to arrange for a nutritionist to select a meal plan that’s good for you and baby.

      Good luck to you!

  29. QUESTION:
    When does morning sickness occur?
I am pregnant with my 2nd child and I am about 5 weeks along. My son just turned 1 so I just can’t remember when I started to feel sick. I know that morning sickness can be a sign of a healthy preg. but I have not felt any of it yet. So far, this is very diff. than the first time which I also know is normal. When should I start to feel sick, roughly and is there reason for concern if I don’t?

    • ANSWER:
If you dont feel any morning sickness, count yourself lucky. Thats perfectly normal.

how long does it take for morning sickness to occur in pregnancy?
i think i might be pregnant..i only had sex a couple of days ago but im already feeling nauseated and sick. is this possible? and also my period came on monday to.. could i still be pregnant?

    • ANSWER:
i didn’t start to feel sick until i was 8-9 weeks pregnant and i haven’t felt it since….. around your time, i had a very mild yeast infection and a couple days after that, my nails started to crack and chip…. everyone is different

  32. QUESTION:
When exactly does morning sickness occur?
and when can i have a pregnancy test? cn i have it as soon as a week after i had sex??
THANKS GUYS! ur responses helped me alot.. god bless u

    • ANSWER:
It really depends on the woman.

My sister never had more than occasional small bouts with morning sickness (3 pregnancies)

I, on the other hand, had it from Week 1 all the way to birth with both my pregnancies.

      So it really depends.

If you are sick and think you may be prego, take the test, but realize that over the counter tests are only so accurate. You would be better off waiting for the missed period.

  33. QUESTION:
How long after implantation bleeding does morning sickness generally occur?

    • ANSWER:
      HEY KAILA HOPE THIS HELPS

      Implantation Bleeding:
Implantation bleeding can be one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms. About 6-12 days after conception, the embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Some women will experience spotting as well as some cramping.

Other Explanations: Actual menstruation, altered menstruation, changes in birth control pill, infection, or abrasion from intercourse.
      Delay/Difference in Menstruation:
A delayed or missed menstruation is the most common pregnancy symptom leading a woman to test for pregnancy. When you become pregnant, your next period should be missed. Many women can bleed while they are pregnant, but typically the bleeding will be shorter or lighter than a normal period.

Other Explanations: Excessive weight gain/loss, fatigue, hormonal problems, tension, stress, ceasing to take the birth control pill, or breast-feeding.

      Swollen/Tender Breasts:
Swollen or tender breasts is a pregnancy symptom which may begin as early as 1-2 weeks after conception. Women may notice changes in their breasts; they may be tender to the touch, sore, or swollen.

Other Explanations: Hormonal imbalance, birth control pills, impending menstruation (PMS) can also cause your breasts to be swollen or tender.

      Fatigue/Tiredness:
Feeling fatigued or more tired is a pregnancy symptom which can also start as early as the first week after conception.

Other Explanations: Stress, exhaustion, depression, common cold or flu, or other illnesses can also leave you feeling tired or fatigued.

      Nausea/Morning Sickness:
This well-known pregnancy symptom will often show up between 2-8 weeks after conception. Some women are fortunate to not deal with morning sickness at all, while others will feel nauseous throughout most of their pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Food poisoning, stress, or other stomach disorders can also cause you to feel queasy.

      Backaches:
Lower backaches may be a symptom that occurs early in pregnancy; however, it is common to experience a dull backache throughout an entire pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Impending menstruation, stress, other back problems, and physical or mental strains.

      Headaches:
The sudden rise of hormones in your body can cause you to have headaches early in pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Dehydration, caffeine withdrawal, impending menstruation, eye strain, or other ailments can be the source of frequent or chronic headaches.

      Frequent Urination:
Around 6-8 weeks after conception, you may find yourself making a few extra trips to the bathroom.

Other Explanations: Urinary tract infection, diabetes, increasing liquid intake, or taking excessive diuretics.

      Darkening of Areolas:
If you are pregnant, the skin around your nipples may get darker.

Other Explanations: Hormonal imbalance unrelated to pregnancy or may be a leftover effect from a previous pregnancy.

      Food Cravings:
While you may not have a strong desire to eat pickles and ice cream, many women will feel cravings for certain foods when they are pregnant. This can last throughout your entire pregnancy.

Other Explanations: Poor diet, lack of a certain nutrient, stress, depression, or impending menstruation.

  34. QUESTION:
update and morning sickness related to girl babies?
    Hi everyone!

Just letting you all know that I had a doctors appointment and am currently 10 weeks pregnant with our second baby who is due April 5 (Noah was born January 5 this year)

With Noah, I never experienced any morning sickness at all, however with this pregnancy I have been a little naseous… Girlfriends of mine have told me that morning sickness sometimes occurs with girl babies more so than boys.

Is this true? I am just curious

    • ANSWER:
not necessarily true. it has to do with hormones and how your body reacts to them.

i had horrible morning sickness with my son. all day every day the entire time. before i found out what the sex was, my mom was convinced that he was a girl. nope, definitely a boy! he will be 3 next month.

i am 19 weeks 4 days with #2, and will hopefully find out the gender on monday, and i have not been sick at all. not even once. absolutely nothing. i have felt completely normal. my gut tells me, this is a girl.

my best friend is also expecting, and just found out she is having a girl, and had a little bit of morning sickness, but none with her son.

remember, no 2 pregnancies are the same. even in the same person. i am experiencing that now. this pregnancy and the one with my son has been like night and day.

I did some research and found some websites that give examples of things that can cause same symptoms as morning sickness. 44. QUESTION:
How many days after conception does vomitting begin..and does morning sickness really occur in the morning?

    • ANSWER:
I was around 4 weeks when I started feeling sick every night around the same time. I wasn’t throwing up but I had alot of nausea and extremely painful heartburn. It was one of the things that prompted me to take a test (along with a missed period) I’ve heard of it happening as early as 3 weeks. Mine started at around 4 weeks, and not in the morning but actually at night. I am 8 weeks now and still have severe nausea at night… I also have nausea all day, its just worse at night, I dont have the heartburn anymore, but now I’ve upgraded to throwing up (which happens for me in the morning and at night). It’s called “morning sickness” but you can have it at any time.

    • ANSWER:
pregnancy symptoms normally happen once the egg has implanted as this is when the Hcg hormone starts to be produced, the egg normally implants by about a 5-8 days after conception so its possible to feel symptoms as early as 5 days.

i felt symptoms such as morning sickness, moodiness and fatigue about 7 days after conception and tingly breasts at about 8 weeks.

i know i got my symptoms this early because my daughter wasn’t planned and my partner and i only has sex on one specific day, when i look back i realise just how early my symptoms came about.

    • ANSWER:

  50. QUESTION:
    morning sickness during implantation?
I had lite bleeding for about 2 days think it was implantation bleeding. In the middle of it I got really nauseous while stirring rice. I know that morning sickness usually occurs after implantation as the result of HCG so is it possible to start having morning sickness during implantation?

    • ANSWER:
It is possible that there was implantation and then the next day was when you had the spotting. So it is possible that on day 2 of bleeding you had already had the baby implanted for 24hrs….. which for some women is enough time for symptoms to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Has anyone used a CD or any other natural methods of relieving morning sickness?
I really don’t want to take medication unless absolutely necessary. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
      Try Preggie Pops
      http://www.threelollies.com
They really work. I purchased mine at Motherhood in the mall, but here is their website.

  2. QUESTION:
    Relieving Morning Sickness…?
I am about 5 weeks pregnant (1st pregnancy), is there any methods to help relieve Morning Sickness? All help will be greatly appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
Everybody has their own little tricks, and I’ll be glad to share mine. First you need to understand that morning sickness is often brought on by low blood sugar. What you eat and when you eat are really up to you and how you feel, but it’s important to go to bed with food in your belly and put food back in as soon as you wake up. If you always have something in your belly, you are much more likely to feel better.

As for my tricks, I eat a high protein dinner, about 1.5 hours before bedtime. Protein is digested slowly, so it helps me to keep food in my belly all night long. When I get up, I eat fortified dry cereal, and keep a box with me at all times, so I can munch throughout the day. I then go on to eat very small meals throughout the day containing as much of the nutrition requirements as I can stomach. I also drink 1 gallon of water a day and exercise each day.

Oh, and if something disgusts you – dont eat it. No matter if it’s all veggies. It’s better to keep your food in you than eat what you think you are supposed to eat. I’ve eaten so much worse (fatty and sweet foods) in the past 3 months than I ever did before pregnancy, but I’m eating what I want, and it’s helping the food to stay in me! Good luck and feel better!

  3. QUESTION:
I am pregnant but I have a question about the morning sickness?
I have not went to the doctor but took at home test and they were positive but anyways what are some home remedies for relieving morning sickness. Thanks for the help.

    • ANSWER:
I would agree that saltines work well, ginger (the root) is great, or altoids makes a ginger “mint”, ginger tea or 7 up. I find that sprite is too sugary.

You should go to the dr. Make sure you are taking prenatals. You can get those over the counter. They may make you sick, so take them at night.
      Best of luck!

  4. QUESTION:
    Tips for relieving morning sickness.?
I’m looking for tips and advise to help ease my morning sickness. I have tried ginger and those bands but they’ve not really worked. I haven’t been sick today but I feel horrid. I am so tired but I can’t lie down as this seems to make it worse. Please help.

  5. QUESTION:
What has worked for you to relieve morning sickness?
My sister is pregnant with her first baby (Yay!). She is having terrible morning sickness, and the traditional remedies like crackers and ginger ale don’t seem to help much. I didn’t have morning sickness myself so I don’t know what to tell her. Has anyone tried anything unique that worked?

    • ANSWER:
Biobands worked wonders for me. They are just pressure point wristbands. A lot of cancer patients and soon to be mothers use them, my doctor recomended them.

  6. QUESTION:
How to relieve morning sickness lasting 24/7 and you tryed everthing in the books?
Im 12 weeks along and i have tryed everything in the books to relieve my sickness that lasts all day and all nite!! Nothing seems to help im just wonderin if anyone had a secret to this?? I really need help its starting to become very overwhelming…..

    • ANSWER:
The most important thing right now is to stay hydrated. You really don’t want to be dehydrated, so drink as much as possible. Take small sips so as not to overwhelm your stomach. Water can sometimes hurt an empty stomach, so try ginger ale with the bubbles stirred out (carbonation can also hurt your stomach), powerade or gatorade, or juice, if you can manage it.

If you do get dehydrated, don’t wait–go to the emergency room and get fluids intravenously. It’s not fun, but it will make you feel better and break the vicious cycle of dehydration.

Other things that might work for you are popsicles or ices, and fruit–a lot of miserably pregnant women find that they CAN eat fruit, so try out different kinds if that appeals at all. For me, I found that I could eat (at different times) strawberries, grapefruit, and thinly sliced golden delicious apples. It was weirdly specific, but it kept me alive!

You should try having very small “meals”–a bite of a cracker here and there when you can stomach it. A lot of people find that keeping crackers or something light next to their bed and taking a few bites before they even get out of bed in the morning. You will feel worse if your stomach is empty, so keeping food in it–even just a little bit–will help stave off the misery.

You might also want to try adding peanut butter to your crackers. Peanut butter has protein, which will make you feel better if you can keep it down.

If nothing else works, ask your doctor for medication like reglan or zofran to help.

      Good luck!

  7. QUESTION:
What can I do to help relieve morning sickness?
I have tried eating saltine crackers and dry cereal and stuff like that. But nothing works, I’m nauseous all day every day. My doctor told me that I could take ginger pills, they are supposed to help relieve motion sickness. I haven’t taken them yet. I was just wondering if anyone had tried them and if they worked? Is there anything else that works?

    • ANSWER:
Saltine crackers made it worse for me, actually.

I LIVED on ginger ale and lemon drops for 2 full months. Sometimes I would eat eggs, but usually it was just ginger ale and lemon drops.

Once you find something that works for you, stay on it!

  8. QUESTION:
Have you ever tried the morning sickness pill?
I was at a healthfood store a while back and I saw a pill that is supposed to help relieve morning sickness. Does anyone know if it works? I don’t remember the exact name of it sorry.

    • ANSWER:
It works like magic, ask your doctor first though to make sure it’s safe for you and baby!

I have a problem with hives and that is why I use allegra. I’m 9 weeks along and I noticed that when I’m using my allegra I don’t have nausea. This is my 4th pregnancy and I’m usually very sick. I used a different antihistamine my last pregnancy and it also stopped my nausea. I would like to know whether this has happened to other women.

    • ANSWER:
I’ve never heard of an antihistamine for anti-nausea. I used Claritin for my allergies though, and benadryl for stuffiness.

  12. QUESTION:
Is there anything to relieve morning sickness?
It’s horrible, from the second I open my eyes till about three hours it wears off. I chew gum and it helps sometimes. Is there something, anything at all that can help?

    • ANSWER:
The main cause of morning sickness is a combination of issues related to the chemical changes your body is going through. Mix a pinch of nutmeg powder with a table spoon of gooseberry juice, and take it thrice a day. Sip little by little ginger juice mixed with honey before you get out of bed. 13. QUESTION:
    How to relieve morning sickness??
I have been having really bad morning sickness. Does anybody know any way to alleviate the nausea. I find that most foods and even everyday smells are making me feel ill. Any feedback greatly appreciated…

    • ANSWER:
Lemon Drops! Trust me on this, I never went anywhere without Lemon Drops.

  14. QUESTION:
What did you do to help relieve morning sickness?

    • ANSWER:
I had two types – the kind that’s brought on by something specific, and the just general kind.

The specific thing that made me ill was anything in my mouth that ‘shouldn’t’ be there. Dentists’ fingers. Raisins in my oatmeal. Toothbrush. I just avoided textured foods I couldn’t handle, bore with the dentist, and the toothbrush thing was worst in the morning. Sad to say, I stopped brushing my teeth in the morning until that passed!

General background nausea? For me, SOUR stuff worked like a charm. I existed on sour skittles. I sucked on key limes. Lemonade only without s ugar, t hanks. Green apples. But altoids citrusy sour ‘mints’ … stear clear of those. They made me puke, every time. don’t know w hy.

      Hope that helps you!

  15. QUESTION:
    What helped your morning sickness?
Anyone have any special tips to relieve morning sickness? any advice is greatly appreciated. thanx.

    • ANSWER:
Adding lemon wedges to my water bottle – lots of them so the water was really tart. I wouldn’t guzzle it, just take frequent small sips. And I grazed a lot on small snacks throughout the day.

  16. QUESTION:
Do motion sickness bands really relieve morning sickness?
I am on my second pregnancy, about 10 weeks and I can barely function. I feel nauseous ALL DAY and I am dry heaving a lot (its like i cant actually throw up) I heaved so hard the other night i literally wet myself. I am so desperate and NOTHING works, but i really dont want to take medication, I want to use something natural. If anyone knows if these bands work I would love to hear about it. I have a toddler to take care of and i can barely get out of bed. Please help!

    • ANSWER:
the bands work for some people, and may not work for others.

the only way to know is to try and find out.

you may also ask your doctor to prescribe a medication to help.

  17. QUESTION:
What can I do to relieve morning sickness?? I am HORRIBLY sick and I cannot do crap all day!?
I sleep and puke alllll day. What can I do to feel better??? I am 6wks 4 days!

    • ANSWER:
awww! i was going to ask the SAME question! lol.

I am 8 weeks 5 days. My day consists of small snacks, ginger ale, sleeping, gagging, and puking.

I just called Kaiser bc none of the regular suggestions work for me (saltines, ginger ale, small meals, keep something in your tummy, sleep, water, etc)

I haven’t had REAL food in 2 weeks. I “snack” all day. I have a string cheese, saltines, grapes, a banana, yogurt, soup, some veggies and dip… that’s IT. It sucks!

I was hoping the Dr could provide me a miracle Rx, but they recommended all the regular stuff, plus vitamin B6 supplements (along with pre-natal vitamins). they said start with 50mg at night before bed, if it works, you can increase the dose to 200mg.

I’m going to try this, maybe it’ll help! Im scared to leave the house bc I puke all the time! I literally had to pull over on the side of the road on the way to work the other day. yucky yucky yucky!

  18. QUESTION:
What’s the easiest way to relieve morning sickness?

    • ANSWER:
The best thing to do is combat it before it starts. First, don’t rush to get up in the morning. Take your time getting out of bed. Take some deep breaths and let the rest of your body get acclimated to whatever your stomcah is feeling when you wake up. Next, try eating a piece of dry toast or saltines before eating anything else. Instead of trying to drink juice or water, try ginger tea or another type of herbal tea. Make sure whatever kind you choose is caffeine free though. That might help settle your stomach. Not eating at all or trying to eat something too heavy will probably make you feel more queasy. Although it’s called morning sickness, you may find yourself getting sick or nauseous all through the day. Try to keep some crackers with you at all times.

During my first trimester, I was sick the first 3 months. I knew that I had to stay hydrated even though I was hardly able to keep anything down. I found that drinking Gatorade in lieu of ginger ale or Sprite really helped. But don’t overdose on that either. Sports drinks have a lot sodium in them and that can cause swelling and preeclampsia. Good luck and congrats!

Sounds good but there isn’t anywhere where I live that sells them so I have to order them online. In the meantime does anyone know if theres anything similar or any other suggestion of something they would sell at like wal mart or somewhere similar so I could actually get a hold of it like today. I’m completely miserable I’m nausious all day and I don’t know that I can wait until i could get something by mail. My partner works 12 hour shifts on the weekend so I’m home with a 2 1/2 year old who doesnt understand what’s going on and I haven’t found anything that has worked so far. 23. QUESTION:
    Popsicles to cure morning sickness?
Has anybody tried eating popsicles to relieve morning sickness? Does it really work?

    • ANSWER:
Lemon popsicles work the best. Something in the lemon makes it work better than regular popsicles. And the sugar helps calm the stomach. That is why they say to drink flat soda when you have the stomach flu. I bought some anti-nausea medicine for my kids and I noticed the ingredients was just sugar.

  24. QUESTION:
Are there any ways to relieve or reduce morning sickness?
Both my sisters are pregnant and I hate the thought of them being in pain :(

    • ANSWER:
I hear GINGER SNAPS work real well. Also, there are some prenatal vitamins that can reduce it. What a nice sister!

  25. QUESTION:
Is there anything I can do to relieve morning sickness?

    • ANSWER:
Eat small meals throughout the day if you can stand it – even have your partner bring you food in bed before you get up – a rice cake or something. Ensure you get enough rest. And take a B-complex vitamin – studies have shown B-vitamin can really reduce morning sickness – I know it helped for me. Also a small amount of ginger steeped in hot water can help.

If your morning sickness is really bad and you are losing weight, ask your doctor about taking a prescription medicine that’s safe in pregnancy.

The iron in prenatal vitamins can make you feel sick, so consider taking them at night after dinner instead of in the morning.

Avoid Gravol and other over-the-counter remedies for nausea.

  26. QUESTION:
Will Gingerale help relieve my morning sickness?
Lots of people have said ginger helps so would gingerale help? Im 8 weeks with my first and have a full time job and feel terrible all day long and I know i need to eat but nothing sounds good most of the time!!!!

    • ANSWER:
It may,but from my experience. It didn’t help. What helped me was eating small light meals. Nothing heavy, greasy or spicy. Things like toast, crackers, small bowl of oatmeal. Meals mainly consisting of carbs. Although I found that french fries helped me some. I’m convinced it was the salt on the fries that actually helped.

For now, just eat what you can. Once you are past this icky part. You’ll be able to eat better like you need to.

  27. QUESTION:
Does anyone know of any methods to relieve morning sickness? Help I’m pregnant and sick of throwing up!?

    • ANSWER:
Hi sweetheart. If you’ve tried all the non-medication remedies like crackers, ginger etc I have a few suggestions of things you can take. Be sure to clear it with your doctor before you do anything though. First of all you can try Unisom sleep melts 25 mg (same active ingredient as benadryl so you can take 25 mg of that instead) and Vitamin B6. Weird combination, but it did work for me briefly. After my morning sickness got worse, my doctor prescribed me Phenergan anti-nausea medication. Works like a charm and it helps me sleep which is nice on those insomniac nights. Your doc might also prescribe you Zofran. Good luck I know it sucks!!!

Helping relieve morning sickness by eating apples?
Ok, my husband is driving me crazy, first of all he is a massive nag and secondly he is a big fat know-it-all. lol, ranting. But I when I grew up and I had a rough tummy when I was sick, my Mother would cut me up some apple. She said that if my tummy was rough, to stay away from dairy, citrus fruits, bananas, and anything with a too overpowering a flavour. To stick with simple flavours, even go with bland foods. I have always had apple when I have been sick, preferably green apple as long as its not too sour, and I’ve never had a problem. I am currently pregnant and for the first two months all I could eat was apples and bread because I felt so sick. In fact as soon as I ate one I immediately felt better, which I think is due to the natural sugar…ie energy boost, and that I believe its soft on your tum. But he nags me all the time saying apples are too hard a food for when your tummy is rough, where does he pull this stuff from, I think he makes it up as he go along!

    lol, ranting. :)

So what did you ladies eat whilst you had bad bouts of morning sickness? And do you agree with me about the apples?

    • ANSWER:
It honestly depends on the person. With my morning sickness all I could stand to eat that didn’t make me sick where potatoes, ice cream, and smoothies. Since you grew up eating apples when you weren’t feeling good, your system is used to that and it acts as a comfort food to you. As long as the apples aren’t making you more sick but making you feel better, stick with them. Your husband probably heard growing up that you shouldn’t eat apples on an upset stomach or heard that eating too many can make you sick. Tell him you appreciate his concern for you and the baby, but the apples are helping you and not making it worse. Like I said before, what works for someone may not work for another but the apples are working for you so keep munching them. Plus they are good for you and the baby.

  30. QUESTION:
Morning sickness – How can i relieve it?
Im 6 and a half weeks pregnant and im starting to get morning sickness, well more nausea. And its constant.

Is there anything i can do to help ease it?

Also i dont like ginger or ginger biscuits, they make it worse lol.

I get sick if i dont eat, then i get worse if i do eat.

    • ANSWER:
I just finished reading the morning sickness companion and it really helped a lot. Try to always have something in your stomatch and always carry food with you where ever you go. I have been carring crackers, nutigrain bars, and some fruit with me plus a drink like sprite everywhere. Just munch on the crackers throughout the day and try not to ever let your stomatch get empty. I know it’s easier said than done but it does help. You have to experiment with different things that will help you feel better. For some it’s Ginger and others it’s oranges. You should really read that book though. It has some great advise. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!!!

  31. QUESTION:
pregnant what can i do about morning sickness when it’s all day?
I feel so nauseaus all day what can i do to relieve the morning sickness and the food cravings

    • ANSWER:
I used sea bands. They’re in the motion sickness isle and they work by a pressure point. I didn’t have morning sickness too bad, but my sister in law did and she wore them 24-7 and swore by them. She had some of the promethezine too. It comes in a suppository form also if you have trouble keeping the pill down. The food cravings, good luck with that. I’ve been having them for over three years now. I’ve been pregnant and/or breastfeeding forever now. My youngest was just born on the third so I’ve got some time to go still. Good luck!!

  32. QUESTION:
Have any advise on morning sickness relieve?
I am 12 wks pregnant with my 2nd and have the worse morning sickness. I’m throwing up almost everyday. I ended up in the emergency room once for dehydrations. They gave me some pills and said to take them if I can’t keep anything in for over 12 hours. I’m only throwing up once a day so I’m not taking them. I would like to try all natural things first.
Those ginger candies make me sooo sick, tea seems to help a little.
Anything work with you ladies? I am desperate here. I was sick with my DD for almost half my pregnancy and am already 12 wks with this one and showing no sign of easing up anytime soon.

  33. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness advice please?
My fiancee is thought to be just gone 10 weeks pregnant and she’s experiencing really bad nausea. She is really finding it hard to eat anything and it is worrying me. She feels like this through out the day.
Can anyone please give me some advice which could relieve this morning sickness?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    • ANSWER:
Morning sickness can’t necessarily be relieved but it can be helped a little. She should eat bland foods, soups, crackers, drink gingerale and eat smaller meals more often. If she can’t even do that, she should talk to her doctor. If it is too severe her doctor can prescribe her an anti-nausea medication which is perfectly safe during pregnancy.

  34. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness remedies?
This is my second pregnancy and I am having morning sickness once again, at least not as severe as the first time. But this time it’s a little harder to deal with since I have a daughter who is very concerned about me every time I go running to the bathroom. I also provide childcare in my home now and I can’t be running to the bathroom every few minutes when Ive got little one running around. Please Help!!! I will do anything to relieve my morning sickness!!

    • ANSWER:
Ginger never worked for me. Never letting my stomach get empty DID. I always kept something in my stomach, usually saltines. I also took Vitamin B6 and Unisom (totally safe) which helped immensely! Being that you watch children during the day take it in the evening it helps A LOT! I suffered with severe morning sickness for the first 4 months of my pregnancy.

  35. QUESTION:
Any suggestions for morning sickness relief?
Does anyone have any ideas I can try to relieve my morning sickness? I haven’t been able to hold anything down for 2 days. Not even chicken broth and saltines! Then I get even more nauseous from being hungry! I’ve been having morning sickness for 3 weeks now, but it’s progressively getting worse so that I can’t eat all day. Thank you!
Well I definately agree that I’m way beyond the crackers! lol I tried eating the saltines before getting out of bed. I tried regular bread, dry toast, ginger ale, 7 Up, and my last resort was chicken broth. That has also failed miserably. That was only thing that worked with my first pregnancy. Since it’s not working this time I’m desparate. Thank you for all of your suggestions. I will definately be looking into the sea bands to see if those help. Dr. for last resort. Thanks again.

    • ANSWER:

Well honey I feel your pain! Forget the crackers you are to far gone for that. The first thing you shoul try is ginger ail, ginger root tablets, ginger snap cookies, and if that does not sooth you stomach try taking vitamin b, those are some remidies the doctor will try before giving you perscription pills. When I was 5 weeks prego I started feeling sick. Week after week it got worse. I went for days without holding anything down. I went to the doctor and in two weeks I lost 22 lbs! I was put in the hospital on fluids. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis. Only one in 200 get it and I was that lucky on. It seem like you may have it. You need to go to the doctor and let them check you urine for key tones. If there are key tones in your urine you are dehydrated. They will most likely give you fluids and give you phenergin a anti nausia med. It will make you very tired! If that does not work go back to the doctor and they will give you zofran. That is a much stronger med that they give chemo patients and it works wonders. It is safe for you and the baby. Oh and ask for some nexium it desolves your food faster so it wont sit in your stomach all day making you sick. I hope this helps and good luck!

  36. QUESTION:
Morning Sickness (any home remedies or tips to relieve it)?
My cousin is laying on the floor right now (she just plopped down where she was playing with the twins) overcome with a bought of queasiness. I feel sympathetic because her morning sickness is pretty bad (she’s 9 weeks pregnant). Is there anything I can give her or do for her to relieve it?

    • ANSWER:
“Drink ginger tea for morning sickness? That’s just an old wives’ tale.” True, an old wife is likely to tell you to drink ginger tea, but consider this…those old wives had probably morning sickness themselves!

The bad news is that the nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy, commonly called morning sickness, affects about half of all pregnant women. The good news is that there are many remedies to try and if one of them doesn’t work for you, very likely another one will. If all else fails, just hang on to the fact that most women are finished with morning sickness by the beginning of their fourth month.

We’ve collected a whole variety of the various home remedies that may help with soothing your morning sickness. There is bound to be something here to help no matter whether your morning sickness consists of a little morning nausea or the all day eat and throw up variety. However, be sure to contact your caregiver if the nausea and vomiting becomes unbearable or causes you to lose weight.

      Ø Get plenty of rest.

      Ø Chew your food thoroughly.

Ø Make sure your stomach is never completely empty. Carry fruit, cheese and/or crackers around with you to nibble on throughout the day.

Ø Keep a snack by the bed for when you get up during the night to visit the bathroom or soothe one of the kids.

Ø Also keep a snack by the bed to eat before you lift your head from the pillow in the morning. Then, get up slowly.

Ø Eat a high protein snack before bed at night.

Ø Eat a diet high in carbohydrates and protein, low in fats.

      Ø Eat salty, crunchy foods.

Ø Sniff a fresh lemon peel.

Ø Make sure your breads and crackers are whole grain.

Ø Drink wheat germ dissolved in warm milk, a few teaspoons every hour.

Ø Take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey in cold water before bed.

Ø Avoid strong odors and stuffy or smoky rooms.

Ø Suck a piece of peeled ginger root.

Ø Drink red raspberry leaf, peppermint, squaw vine or spearmint tea.

Ø Drink ginger tea made by boiling some ginger root in water. Strain it and add honey to sweeten.

Ø Wear motion sickness bands on your wrists.

Ø To avoid actually vomiting, try grasping your tongue with a piece of cloth and pulling gently but firmly.

Ø If you are vomiting a lot, try limiting your diet to a single food, one that you know you can tolerate. Add one additional food per day as you can tolerate them.

Ø Put three drops of lavender essential oil and one of peppermint in a diffuser or humidifier to scent the air.

Ø Place a cool lavender scented compress on your forehead and a warm lavender compress over your rib cage.

Ø Get a massage with chamomile massage oil.

Ø Drink liquids between rather than with meals.

      Ø Avoid greasy foods.

Ø Snack on ginger snap cookies, homemade and with real ginger, if possible.

      Ø Chew gum.

      Ø Get regular, gentle exercise.

Ø Increase your intake of vitamin B6.

Ø Try taking your vitamins later in the day.

Ø Try changing your iron supplement.

Ø Give in to your food cravings.

      Ø Sip a carbonated beverage.

Ø Get plenty of fresh air.

Ø Try tart flavors; lemonade, sour pickles, etc.

Ø Don’t brush your teeth immediately after eating.

Ø Lie completely still with your eyes closed.

Ø Suck on frozen popsicles, especially lemonade.

    • ANSWER:

  38. QUESTION:
can morning sickness return later in pregnancy?
i was sick as a dog for 3 months straight. it went away and i was so relieved and now i am 23 weeks and it seems to be coming back.. would it be morning sickness this far in? even though its gone away already?

this is my 2nd pregnancy and with my first i was sick for 3 months and it never came back..

    help?

    • ANSWER:
Yeah unfortunetly morning sickness can rear it’s head at anytime during the pregnancy. I had it loads at the beginning and now have it on and off even had some this morning at 38 weeks though definetly has been more occassionaly now.

      Good luck!!!

  39. QUESTION:
I’m pregnant, about 11 weeks. I have all-day morning sickness everyday. What can I do to help relieve it?
I’ve tried Preggies Pops and Ginger candy but they don’t even help one bit. It actually makes the nausea worse and I’d be in the bathroom. What can I do to relieve it? Thank you so much for your time.

    • ANSWER:
Try the wrist bands you get for travel sickness – they really can help.
Also, ginger is a great help, but not really as candy. I would try making an infusion of ginger, i.e. buy some real root ginger, grate a little and pour boiling water over it to let it infuse. You can then strain it and drink it either hot/warm or even iced.
Nibble on plain ginger biscuits or even dry cream crackers or toast – that will help get rid of the acidity in your stomach.
You will get over it, but it is horrible while it lasts – you have my sympathies. If you want to know for real, it took me until about 20 weeks to stop feeling nauseous.
Good luck with it all though!

  40. QUESTION:
Seriously, what is up with my morning sickness only causing nausea?
I feel nauseated constantly… to the point where throwing up would actually probably feel relieving. My gosh, I’ve nearly had it with this. All food looks disgusting, I never feel like eating, I hate cooking, whatever I do eat I regret it right away… any tips at all???

    • ANSWER:
Be glad you aren’t vomiting. I vomited for 3 months straight and lost 24 lbs. When I would start vomiting I would keep going with dry heaves for up to an hour and eventually stop when bile would come up. I would much rather just have nausea!

Eat what sounds good to you. If you live on peaches and crackers and water for a couple months you will be fine. Don’t worry about cooking fancy things or eating balanced, just try to get something down every day.

  41. QUESTION:
what can i do to relieve the symptoms of morning sickness?
I’m only six weeks and I’ve had morning sickness since the five week mark… I haven’t thrown up, but all day (not to mention night) I feel like I’m on the verge. Sometimes I wish I would, just to feel some kind of relief!

I don’t do anything because of this morning sickness! That and exhaustion. Like, if I go anywhere, I don’t even bother to get ready… Which is very unlike myself! I’m usually one of those girls who takes like two hours to get ready lol

Crackers don’t help and I haven’t really tried anything else. I don’t know if I can take this for another six weeks if not longer!

    • ANSWER:
In my opinion, no home remedies work- nada! You can try all of the common things that people suggest, but in the end, you just have to suffer through it unless you want to take medication.

My Dr. prescribed me Zofran, which apparently a lot of pregnant women take who are very sick. It worked wonders for me. You can take one pill twice a day, I only needed to take it once a day b/c it seemed to last all day. I know others who have taken it too and they have perfectly healthy babies. It’s pregnancy category B.

I don’t promote taking prescription meds during pregnancy, unless the benefit out weighs the risk (if any). This was a life saver and my overall health improved which was better for my baby. I could eat, sleep better, take my pre-natals, none of which I could do with out it b/c I felt so lousy. It really made a world of difference. good luck.

PS: You will feel much better by week 13 or so, most women do.

  42. QUESTION:
How can I relieve this sickness?
Some say it’s morning sickness, but I think it’s food poisoning. I ate something yesterday and it probably is the cause of my vomiting and sleeplessness. I can’t keep anything down, not even ginger ale. I can’t get out of bed because then I feel more dizzy and nauseous. Your ideas? I’m 8 weeks pregnant and have my first prenatal visit next week. This is also my second pregnancy.

    • ANSWER:
Pregnancy can cause both of those symptoms, but what I can suggest is calling your OB, telling them what’s going on, then see if they can put you on Premesis, it’s a prenatal vitamin with slow-release B6, to curb your nausea and vomiting. If you can’t get to the OB to get a prescription for this, my OB suggested to take half of a 25 mg tab of B6 every 12 hours. You probably want to stay away from anything fizzy, I have found it upsets my stomach even more. And start by eating dry toast and/or saltine crackers to absorb any acidity in your stomach. Only drink water for now, hydration is key in pregnancy.

Also, one thing that can help is Sea Bands or Psi Bands-they are accupressure bands that you wear that curb nausea! You can buy them online at www.morningsicknesshelp.com

Be careful, call the doctor just to be safe. Good luck.

  43. QUESTION:
When EXACTLY did your morning sickness start?
How did it begin? mild or severe? any tricks to relieve the nausea?

    THANK YOU =]=]

    • ANSWER:
I started to get sick 5 days after conceiving lol lucky me. It was somewhat severe. I mostly just gagged though but hardly actually threw up. I noticed that most of the time I was nauseas when I was hungry but the problem was nothing tasted good and I was turned off by the thought of food. I started drinking gaterade which helped and lots of fruit ice pops. Also, bread always made me feel better so I ate bagels a lot. Many people put saltines by their bed so that when they wake up they have something to nibble on. Good Luck and congrats.

  44. QUESTION:

whats something i can do to reduce morning sickness? Really needing some advice please…?
I’ve been experiencing some morning sickness early in the morning with some vomiting and on and off through the afternoon, til a point to i cant stand it anymore, what can i do to help relieve it???
my dr. told me about emitrol…does this work good??

    • ANSWER:
Ginger candies or tea is supposed to help. Personally, the home remedies didn’t really work for me. After a certain point in the pregnancy they can prescribe medications for nausea and that was a lifesaver for me. So if it gets really bad talk to your doctor and get some help.

  48. QUESTION:
whats the best thing to relieve sickness?
Its only been three days and im already fed up of it, i cant eat anything without it making me want to throw up. Please can someone help, what helped you with morning sickness? i had it bad with my first pregnancy, and ginger helped, but its so discusting, i want to find something else

    • ANSWER:
Don’t let your stomach get empty. even if you just eat a cracker every couple of hours. Eat small meals 6 times a day rather than 3 larger ones a day. Try drinking ice water with fresh lemon it helps your stomach. I find ginger ale worked for me cause of the carbonation. Burping helped.

Their is also medication your can get from your doctor (Diclectin) it is 100% safe. All it is is vitamin b6 and an antihistamine. You can take it 3 times a day thoughout your entire pregnancy if needed. Most only need it for the first trimester though.

  49. QUESTION:
my morning sickness is so bad that….
i feel like im wasting away i cant eat properly i cant go out and do anything it lasts all day its sickenning and physically exhausting i can hardly move from the bedroom. i feel like my health is deteriorating what can i do to keep myself healthy during this time. nothing i try helps relieve the sickness i just want tips on how to keep up some health

    • ANSWER:
Ginger ale or ginger snaps might help, but if it really is as bad as you describe you could talk to your doctor. You might need a prescription anti-nausea drug. My morning sickness wasn’t unbearable, but I had to nibble all day on ginger snaps or saltine crackers just to keep from throwing up. The old wives tale says that the worse the morning sickness, the better the pregnancy “took.” And “morning” sickness is soo inaccurate as mine was all day. On the bright side, most women only have morning sickness for the first trimester. My stopped around 13-14 weeks.

  50. QUESTION:
Friend has REALLY bad morning sickness?
My best friend is about 8 weeks pregnant and has been SUPER sick, it seems like she can’t hold anything down and everything triggers her sickness….I feel really bad for her because even though I’m pregnant (27 weeks) I haven’t had any sickness so I don’t know how to help her…..so I’m coming to you ladies for advice :) …..what can she do to help relieve her sickness?
I dont think she has a good doctor because they havent even bothered trying to get her in until July 1st!!! She called like a month ago….I just keep thinking that it could’ve been an ectopic pregnancy and she would’ve never known becasue her doctor is going to be bothered with her until she’s like 12 weeks….

    • ANSWER:
There is no sure way to stop it. I even tried pills the doctor gave me and they didn’t work. I could only hold down water, if your friend isn’t even managing that she needs to go to the hospital. I was so sick up until I was 21 weeks that I lost 28lbs.

End Morning Sickness

Do you think you’re pregnant after a one night stand? Are you paying the price through an act of stupidity brought on by lust? Are you worried sick what your partner, if he is still around, or what your parents will say. Have you been a naughty girl and regret not having been good? Well it happens to the best of us at times to be a stupid so you’re not alone. First we have to be definitely sure that you are pregnant. Positive results will mean you have to tell your parents or partner so you have the support you need when making any decisions. These can include your position in life, and is it enough to support and bring up a baby. Other considerations are abortion and adoption. These options do not come with pleasantries, but absolute necessary issues. Speak to your parents as soon as possible so you can talk about your pregnancy. They may not be happy, but what mom and dad ever are at a time like this, and why would you expect them to be any other way.

There is no true determined age for first time sexual intercourse, but if you’re under the age of what the law states, as to what it sees the reasonable age for sexual intercourse, it can seriously change matters. The legal age does make you ready for sex, and we have proof of this after you falling pregnant. Readiness would have had you prepared for the outcome of unprotected sex. Age of consent for having sexual intercourse in most states of US ranges between 16 and 18. In the UK it’s 16. If you’re reading this and not pregnant, but fear it maybe on the cards if you don’t act responsible, then below are irresponsible statements you need to ignore if uttered by your partner

But I thought you loved me

All your friends are doing it so why not you

I will love you more

You’ll have to do it sometime, so no time like the present

I’ll only put it in for a second, “we’ve heard that before”

Your first sexual experience can have you anxious about losing your virginity but more so when it’s lost, and you find your pregnant. If you are not sure that you are pregnant then first we need to clarify this.

You miss a period (menstruation)

Feeling tired and don’t have much energy

Vomiting (morning sickness)

Food cravings

Weeing often

Tender or swollen breasts

These signs do not necessarily mean you are pregnant. There may be other reasons why you are experiencing them so have you doctor examine you. If you’re GP has brought back positive results that you are pregnant then your head maybe in a spin, sit down and relax and think of what you need to do, or better still ask the doctor. If you haven’t seen a doctor yet and still not sure if you have conceived, then there are other ways to tell if you are pregnant.

A home pregnancy test can be purchased from a chemist. Results are instant. A positive result is more likely to be correct than a negative one. It may well be in you and your unborn baby’s best welfare to call into a family planning centre/clinic, Yes it may seem like it is too late to speak to these people “now” but nonetheless not too late to easy matters and know what lies ahead. Medical advisors are able to talk to you about the best way to look after yourself during the pregnancy. Any uncertainties regarding your pregnancy will be assured by these people telling you of your options. Your local phone directory or yellow pages should list the doctors and family planning centre/clinic in your area. If your concerns are not in relation to pregnancy and to a sexually transmitted disease then the earlier it is treated the better. Untreated sex diseases can have serious consequences.

British statistics on STIs are based on analysis at genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics.

UK research showed 10.8% of males and 12.6 % of females aged 16-44 were treated for sexually transmitted infections.

Over twelve months ago a report stated, 397,990 new sexually transmitted infection diagnoses at GUM clinics in Great Britain showed an increase of 63% in 1998.

There was a 6% rise between 2006 and 2007. A little number maybe, but a number nonetheless with huge affect.

The Genital Chlamydia infection scarily rose the highest in numbers. Between 1998 and 2007 genital Chlamydia increased by 150%, genital herpes by 51%and syphilis by 1,828%.

Gonorrhea

The male can differ from the female if they have this disease (no symptoms.) Nevertheless in them that do have symptoms they normally appear 2 to 5 days after infection. Discomfort includes a burning sensation when peeing, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis. Gonorrhea can cause painful or swollen testicles. For women the symptoms can be easily confused with a bladder or vaginal infection. Typical signs include pain and burning feel when weeing, increased vaginal discharge, or vaginal bleeding between periods. Women with gonorrhea are at risk of developing serious complications from the infection. Symptoms of rectal infection in both genders may include discharge, anal itching, soreness, bleeding, or painful bowel movements.

Genital warts

If you are infected then you can expect to see pinkish/white small lumps or clustered cauliflower-shaped lumps around the genitals. Remember not to panic till your condition has been determined by a GP as you may well be worrying over little or nothing. Warts are known to form on or around the penis, the scrotum, the thighs or the anus. Female genital warts usually grow around the vulva or inside the vagina and on the cervix. If a woman has warts on her cervix, this can cause slight bleeding or, less commonly show, an unusual colored vaginal discharge. Although not a regular known condition for pain, it however brings itch.

Genital herpes

Symptoms usually appear 2 to 7 days after exposure and last 2 to 4 weeks. Both sexes can have one or more symptoms, including:

Itchiness or tingling around the genitals including the anus.

Small fluid-filled blisters and when burst leaves painful sores.

Pain when urine stream oozes over open sores.

Headaches.

Lower backache.

Swollen glands or fever.

You have to be careful if you find you carry both baby and an infection. STDs can cause cervical and other cancers, chronic hepatitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and other complications. Genital infections can be passed from a pregnant woman to the baby before, during, or after the baby’s birth. Some STDs (like syphilis) cross the placenta and infect the baby while it is in the uterus (womb). Other STDs (like gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis B, and genital herpes) can be transmitted from the mother to the baby during delivery as the baby passes through the birth canal. These are frightening issues, however not as scary as bringing up a baby alone.

well, the one thing I know is keep saltine crackers by your bed. When you first wake up (before you move) eat a few crackers. Wait a few minutes and rise slowly. Feel better. That is a bummer. But it will pass. I heard that morning sickness is a sign of a healthy baby!

Implantation bleeding can be one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms. About 6-12 days after conception, the embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Some women will experience spotting as well as some cramping.

      2.Swollen/Tender Breasts:
Swollen or tender breasts is a pregnancy symptom which may begin as early as 1-2 weeks after conception. Women may notice changes in their breasts; they may be tender to the touch, sore, or swollen.

      3.Fatigue/Tiredness:
Feeling fatigued or more tired is a pregnancy symptom which can also start as early as the first week after conception.

      4.Nausea/Morning Sickness:
This well-known pregnancy symptom will often show up between 2-8 weeks after conception. Some women are fortunate to not deal with morning sickness at all, while others will feel nauseous throughout most of their pregnancy.

      5.Backaches:
Lower backaches may be a symptom that occurs early in pregnancy; however, it is common to experience a dull backache throughout an entire pregnancy.

      6.Headaches:
The sudden rise of hormones in your body can cause you to have headaches early in pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, here is another list of pregnancy symptoms you might experienced after you had missed your period:

      1. Frequent Urination:
Around 6-8 weeks after conception, you may find yourself making a few extra trips to the bathroom.

      2.Darkening of Areolas:
If you are pregnant, the skin around your nipples may get darker.

      3.Food Cravings:
While you may not have a strong desire to eat pickles and ice cream, many women will feel cravings for certain foods when they are pregnant. This can last throughout your entire pregnancy.

  3. QUESTION:
How early could I get morning sickness and food cravings?
If I am pregnant, I would be about 3 weeks.
I get the feeling that im going to be sick a lot.
It isn’t just in the morning though,
I get it worse towards late evening.
And about the food craving thing, it is hard to tell.
But I normally do not like milk,
and I drank 3 pints in the past two days.
I don’t know if I am just driving myself crazy or what, but there is def. a good chance for pregnancy,
I am just wondering if these are early symptoms?
    Serious answers only.
    Please and Thank You!

    • ANSWER:
Good morning dear! I started my morning sickness with my son at about 3 weeks and my cravings at 4 weeks or so. I just wanted dairy all of the time like cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. I normally can’ t tolerate dairy. But during pregnancy I can. It’s strange. With my daughter morning sickness started right away and I know i was pregnant with her before i even got a positive test back. But I didn’t craving anything with her until’ I was 6 or 7 weeks. All I wanted then was cheerios. Best of luck! Hope this was helpful

    • ANSWER:
      You shouldnt eat anything greasy!

      things like pasta
      bread
      ginger snap cookies
      crackers
      Update **
Cut your meals down and do snacks between meals
Snacks like fruit, cheese & crackers, yogurt.

      ginger ale
and herbal ginger tea (no caffine )
      Works
There are also preggie pops that are sooo good that help with morning sickness!
      lemon works as well
put fresh clean lemons in fresh water and drink
      drink tart lemonade
with something a little salty at the same time!
I did cucumbers with lemon and tiny bit of salt

food with higher carbs work like I mentioned Pasta, mashed potatoes, rice

also remember to eat a little something, not eating or keeping hydrated makes you sick too!!

  6. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness and food aversion?
I’m 7 weeks and my morning sickness just hit me on Wednesday. Since then I haven’t been able to keep anything down. Saltines, gingerale, chips, light sandwiches, cereal, oatmeal, anything. It always comes right back up. I’m trying to rack my brain for ideas on what to eat that will hopefully sit in my stomach but the thought of eating any foods just seem nauseating…

    Any advice?

    • ANSWER:
I’ve heard of people keeping lemons near them and sniffing them when nauseous. I used lemonade and it worked. I also started to drink carnation instant breakfast or chocolate milk because I could keep it down and it had protein so I wasn’t starving.

I am not usually holistic, but I used sea-bands the whole time i was nauseous, and they really worked…they provide accupressure in a spot that controls nausea for people with sea sickness, but they work well for some people in pregnancy. I still threw up everytime I brushed my teeth, but I could keep down my lunch and dinner…

Make sure you’re not losing too much weight, some is totally normal, and try to stay as hydrated as possible….

Good luck…and for most people, this passes around 12weeks…

ps I found that I could not take my Prenatal in the morning…I took it with lunch because it made me sick. And I actually kept gingerale, covered, and saltines or gingersnaps by my bed at night and sipped and snacked before sitting up fully and it seemed to help a little bit

  7. QUESTION:
What is the best food to eat with morning sickness?
    9weeks pregnant. morning sickness :(
what’s the best thing to eat.
I don’t like fish or anything fishy.
    thankyouu x

    • ANSWER:
who do you think you are? miss high and mighty on your pedestal up there….
i DO NOT take advice from people who are 9 weeks pregnant!! like you have a right to tell me only responsible people who have been to school are able to be good mothers…. oh love, you have a rude awakening coming your way, in about 31 weeks. if you don’t miscarry before then, that is…
most people have enough smarts about them, to not announce a ‘successful, viable’ pregnancy until after the crucial 12 weeks has passed.
and to be passing judgment like you did!? LMAO!! you are inexperienced, and stupid

  8. QUESTION:
    Work around food, morning sickness?
I work in a bakery. And I am about 7 1/2-8 weeks pregnant, and have been experiencing morning sickness. Mostly when I have to wake up early, like today I had to work at 6 am, and it seems to upset my stomach more. At work I found myself having extreme nausea and throwing up twice at work. I guess my question is, do you think I should be at work if I am throwing up? I mean I know its not from the flu, so there isn’t any sickness germs to worry about after returning and being around the food..but still it seems gross to me?..and its very uncomfortable throwing up in a public bathroom if people are coming in and out of stalls around me.

    • ANSWER:
As long as you’re washing your hands etc. you’re not “contagious” as you said, but yes it can be uncomfortable if all that is available is a public restroom!
You could see if working a later schedule is an option; or try some other tricks to curb your nausea such as:
eat a small amount before you even get out of bed
eat regularly – at least every two hours – but just a small amount
      drink plenty of water
try sea bands or another pressure point/accupressure wrist band or ear clamp

  9. QUESTION:
What is your fave food for morning sickness (all day sickness)?

  10. QUESTION:
Does morning sickness feel like your food is in your throat?
It has been six years since I was pregnant, so I don’t remember exactly.
I have had it for about 5 days, I rarely get heartburn.
Hey dummy, if I didn’t swallow my food I think I would notice it in my mouth. Some people are stupid.

    • ANSWER:
That varies…if you are gagging, it is very possible that the food has went from your stomach up into your throat. Morning sickness can be anything from throwing up when you put a toothbrush in your mouth to being sensitive to smells and throwing up…I am 5 months pregnant and have experienced it all the way through so far, lucky, eh? Look up Morning Sickness (which can be experienced at ANY time of the day) on epregnancy.com or on a search engine such as yahoo or google

  13. QUESTION:
Morning Sickness and Food problem at 7ish Weeks?
I have a quick kinda silly question about morning sickness.

So every morning/afternoon I feel really sick and like i’m exhausted and I just feel like crap but I’ve never actually been sick just the feeling like I could be is there, is that morning sickness?

and I also have a really hard time eating, like I’ll be hungry and then like eat and three bites later I feel like I can’t even look at food! Its horrible is that normal?

And is there anything I can do to like help these?

    Thanks in advance =)
oh okay so constipation is normal too, sorry i honestly have no idea if anything that is going on is normal right now, so that you for adding that :) I’m 16 and uneducated about this, I can honestly say, so if anyone else would like to add any thing that may happen to me, so I don’t freak out that would be appriciated

    • ANSWER:
Yup. that’s morning sickness. It can last all day

Morning sickness can plateau at your 2nd trimester but its not unusual for it to last until the delivery.

Do Not Take Any medication your doctor has not said was okay. Some people think it’s okay just to take whatever and expect it not to have any dangers on the baby, and this is not the case!

To help out your stomach, your doctor can prescribe you something called Diatrin, Dialatron? Something like that. It is okay for the baby and you can take it as you need it, without going over 4 pills in a 24 hour time period. I’ve been using it and it is great!

When it comes to foods, it is also normal for you to suddenly hate foods you’ve always loved, and love foods you’ve always hated! If your not taking a prenatal vitamin, its very important that your still eating. Experiment with foods and what stays down the best. Usually hot foods, peppers and onions are bad for the stomach.

If you find your constipated (which happens to alot of us pregos) try to eat a lot of fruit.

      Good luck!

  14. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness or Food poisoning?
Ok, I am 16 and having a pregnancy scare… But I also had some disgusting food last night. If I am pregnant, I am 1-9 weeks pregnant. This is my first time throwing up in a while. I threw up only a little bit, and actually little chunks of that bad food came out. And after I threw up, I felt perfectly fine. It was around 1am, if that helps. I still feel perfectly fine. It was sudden nasuea too, barely any warning. I need help!!! Would this be food poisoning or morning sickness?
(Also, I cannot get ahold of a pregnancy test any time soon, so that is out of the question)

    • ANSWER:
The one time I had food poisoning I not only vomited for hours on end, but I also had diarrhea. It was so bad that I had to go to the hospital for dehydration. I strongly recommend that you get a pregnancy test ASAP. There may be places in your area that test for free, such as Planned Parenthood.

  15. QUESTION:
ok morning sickness, food aversion, low back ache for 21/2wks?
i have 9 negitive prego test.. do yall think i am or not?

    • ANSWER:
well the tests say no. but depending on whether or not you are testing to early or not may be a better question. you can always go to the doc and get checked out if you are concerned.some women don’t always accure enough of the HcG hormone prior to their missed peirod so this might be your case. good luck

  16. QUESTION:
When some girls are pregnant, do they get morning sickness? And when do they start to get morning sickness?
Some people don’t get morning sickness, only food cravings, but I have a twin sister..who was pregnent, and had morning sickness, so if I were pregnant, would I get the same thing as her, or what? But when do they normally start to get the sickness?

    • ANSWER:
You usually start to feel sick any where from 4 weeks and up. Just because she felt that way doesn’t mean you will. Everyone is different and every time is different. Some woman skip the sickness all together or won’t experience it until they are almost due.
Sorry there is just no way to predict something like that.

  17. QUESTION:
If you have been pregnant, what was or is your fav. morning sickness food?

    cravings..

    • ANSWER:
      Milkshake…
      chocolate mint.
      It helped with stomach acidity!

But if my stomach was ok, then I went mad on fruit salad and orange and passionfruit juice.

  18. QUESTION:
whats the difference between food poisoning and morning sickness?
    be specific.
    feeling wise, not by definition.

    • ANSWER:
food poisoning is the contamination of uncooked or insufficiently cooked foods, by a harmful bacteria or virus. it especially happens in meats and eggs.
morning sickness comes from being pregnant, and the horomones creating a feeling of nausea that happens most often in the morning, of course.
and as for the feeling, morning sickness might be a little less intense than food poisoning, depending on what exactly you ate and how much of it you ate.
its difficult to tell as everyone has different reactions to horomones and food.

  19. QUESTION:
Is it normal not to throw up food with morning sickness? I’ve been throwing up just clear fluids, no food.?

    • ANSWER:

  20. QUESTION:
    Pregnancy food aversions/morning sickness?
I’m 14 weeks pregnant & was very curious to know how cravings changed throughout pregnancy in others. I’m practically living off Patio brand bean & cheese burritos and sweet tea–my only steady cravings.

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely try to include as many fruits & vegetables as I crave, drink plenty of water (the only other thing I can drink besides tea!), take vitamins daily, and make a conscious effort not to overindulge in fast foods (which I can barely eat, anyway)/make an effort to try different foods in attempts to find something healthier (which never works, as I become sick seconds after swallowing the food, if it makes it down).

I can’t stomach beef, eggs, or, sometimes, even milk. Morning sickness was horrible from week 6, when I had to make a trip to the hospital for weight loss & dehydration–excessive vomiting of >15 times daily. I was given Phenergan (that took me back to sickness 2-3 times daily), and the sickness finally began to die down around week 11. But I’m still having major aversions and really have to be cautious, as I still get nauseous every day.

As far as the aversions are concerned, did yours change throughout pregnancy? Do you remember when this happened for you? Did your aversions change with a change in your morning sickness?

(I have spoken to my doctor about the nutrition concerns. I’m strictly looking for the experiences of others concerning the aversions/sickness.)

    • ANSWER:
I’m 12 weeks, and up until the past week or so I couldn’t stand meat of any kind. Also smells of bacon, strong air fresheners, or gasoline made me soooo sick. I only had a little bit of queasiness, and only vomited twice because I smelled something nasty, started coughing, started gagging…and you know the rest lol. But now hopefully all those weird things are behind me. I can eat meats now but I don’t care for some smells. I was told not to worry about the aversions and cravings because it was normal, and to eat what you crave, don’t try to make yourself eat something differently b/c it might make you sick!! Good luck!! I hope things get better for you from now on!!!

  21. QUESTION:
Does morning sickness feel like food poisoning? Does the sick and nausea feeling stop when you throw up?

    • ANSWER:
      This is a good question.

The first doctor talks about how you can avoid morning sickness – like how having a cracker or two the moment you make up can make your stomach more stable, and may help you avoid nausea like this. That video is here:

      http://pregnancy.healthguru.com/content/video/watch/100006/Sidestep_Morning_Sickness?YAFT

The second doctor’s video is more about how to get rid of morning sickness once it starts to affect you, which might also be useful information. You can watch that video here:

      http://pregnancy.healthguru.com/content/video/watch/100007/Say_%22So_Long%22_to_Morning_Sickness?YAFT

      I hope those are helpful!

I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my second child and the morning sickness is kicking in with a vengance. I’ve read all the usual ginger, eat before getting up etc, but these don’t work for me, I can stomach anything. I’ve heard that travel sickness wrist bands can help, has anyone tried this?

  25. QUESTION:
is there anything that can help morning sickness other then food !?
like tablets etc is there anything a doctor can give for morning sickness
or is there anything you can buy from the shops !!
and if so are they any good and what do they actually do !!
i just hate morning sickness and its frustrating !!

    please help

    • ANSWER:
because every pregnancy is different, you may need to try a few things to see which works for you, but you should be able to find some relief from one of the many recommended remedies.

there are some medications, but they are quite pricey and the drowsy side-effect can be unbearable if you need to be awake/alert for work or caring for other children.

organic ginger-lemon tonic saved my life during my first pregnancy. it is a syrup-type liquid that can be taken alone or mixed with tea, tonic water, etc. i just took a big swig whenever i felt ill, and it completely curbed any nausea.

much to my dismay, the tonic has been completely unhelpful during this pregnancy. i was so excited to be cured of my extreme all-day sickness, but i just threw the tonic up like everything else. i tried everything from saltines, to waking up slowly, to changing my diet. in the end, the only thing that helped was eating CONSTANTLY. it was hard at first because i felt so sick, but i just started eating anything that i could stomach the thought of and NEVER let myself get hungry. it felt a bit unnaturaly, eating unhealthy things, eating at least every hour, but after about 2 weeks, i had the nausea under control.

i’ve since heard that “morning sickness” is a common result of hunger, so the key is just to keep your belly full. don’t feel guilty if you can only not-so healthy things at first; it will get better. i was only able to eat mcdonald’s breakfast sandwiches, and other yucky fast food items, and i gorged myself on them to deter hunger/nausea. i was terrified about the amount of weight i might be gaining in only the first trimester, but once the nausea was under control, i was able to start incorporating healthier items, and now i’m back to eating normally. i did not end up putting on any weight at all.

congrats and good luck on your seach for morning sickness relief :)

  26. QUESTION:
Most food/drinks make me feel sick but i have no morning sickness?
I can’t even think about or see any form of fizzy drink. I can’t consume or even look at any food that I had during my bout of morning sickness at week 6.

What is wrong with me? I’m now over 10 weeks pregnant and still gag at the thoughts or seeing these food items.

    • ANSWER:
i wish there was an answer to this :( im in the same situation, except ive never had actual morning sickness. just the thought of certain foods make my stomach turn. ive heard some people say that when they throw up while pregnant from a certain food, they can never eat it again. theres nothing wrong with you, i think it happens to a lot of pregnant women.

  27. QUESTION:
Morning sickness, flu, or food poisoning? 19 weeks pregnant?
Ever since yesterday morning, I haven’t been able to keep anything down. Yesterday evening is when things got worse — no matter how much BILE I’ve thrown up, I’ve still managed to have a sour stomach. I woke up this morning feeling okay so I had my fiance go get some breakfast, since my stomach was empty from throwing up so much. 15 minutes after I ate, everything came up AGAIN! Every time I have had the flu, it only lasted half a day. I only had morning sickness during the early stages of my pregnancy, and it wasn’t ever bad. I’ve never had food poisoning before. What could this be? Also, how can I keep myself hydrated and will my baby be okay? I feel like I’m dying right now, but my baby is more important and I want to know if, aside from all this, that he is okay.

    • ANSWER:
I had gastro when I was 27 weeks pregnant with my twins – I wanted to die!!!

For 24 hours, stick with water and dry toast. Your baby will be fine :)

  28. QUESTION:
Is it morning sickness or the food poisoning?
Yesterday morning, I woke up slightly nauseous. Once I drank a little tea and walked around a little, I was fine. This morning, at 5am I was awakened by a roiling in my tummy and was running to the bathroom to puke. Since then, I’ve puked again, but only once. After I vomited, I became very tired and have slept for about 4 hours. My husband thinks I may have food poisoning, but I wonder. We haven’t been trying for a baby, but then we haven’t been careful either. I wonder if anyone can tell me which this sounds like.

By the way, I’ve had two late periods since then, and on my first late one, I tested negative. I don’t want to test again unless this sickness pattern continues.
PS. I mentioned that I took a test once. please, if you are going to berate me for asking an honest question, don’t answer.

To those of you have been helpful and given me an answer without the rudeness, THANKS!

what ever it is increases my senses because we have thouse airwick automatic air fresheners and i was far from it iand i felt like i couls taste the fragrence, didnt make me sick but it did at the thought of spray being in my mouth.
had nothing come out just that feeling in the back of your throat that is like on a roller coaster… up and down and way up and way down… just the intesity would increase at certian thoughts or things.
also wish i could just get it over with because of the thought of it going away… not that it is ruining my day and i have not had to run to the bathroom once but i have actually gaggd slightly just sitting there.

    • ANSWER:
I’ve had food poisoning before and it’s a hell of a lot worse than feeling nauseated. You have a bubbly stomach, puking, diarrhea and it’s violent, it comes in waves and it’s painful.

Morning sickness on the other hand, I felt nauseous all the time and wished I could throw up because I knew if I did, I’d feel better.

    morning sickness?!?
I was having HORRIBLE Morning sickness so bad I couldnt keep food down. The doctor gave me these nasty tasting little pills to help. my question is if and when I come off these pills will the bad nausia come back? and if so will it be worse?
what foods can I eat that would stay down I tried Pasta. the only thing that seems to work is soup

    • ANSWER:
There may not be anything you can do about it. I had a friend who this happened to, and she couldn’t keep anything down (be lucky you have soup) for about 2 months. She just had to deal with it. She did continue to dehydrate though because of it, and would have to go to the hospital to have an IV, and rehydrate. Make sure you you do to, if you are dehydrated cause it is not good for the baby. Good Luck, and just remember eventually it will pass.

  40. QUESTION:
Morning Sickness Or The Food Poisoning?
I have my period every other month for the past four months. I’ve taken 2 home pregnancy test and a planned parent hood test that all said I am not pregnant. And I haven’t had sex in almost two months. However, I woke up this morning with a really bad tummy ache. My abdominal mussels hurt. I’ve felt sick, I have diarrhea, really gassy, and I have a really bad pain on my upper right abdominal area. I know I should not be asking about if Im pregnant since I’ve had two periods, but I’ve read alot of stories of women who had their period and were still pregnant. I still feel sick but there hasn’t been any vomiting, just gas and diarrhea. I did eat some ranch dressing that had been left out for a few days last night which is why Im thinking it could be a mild case of food poisoning. The hurting is kinda settled until I start moving around and then it gets alot worse.

    • ANSWER:
It is probably food poisoning (I feel very badly for you too, that’s not a fun thing to deal with). If you’ve had three negative pregnancy tests and you have been getting your period and you haven’t had sex in two month, I would say that you are probably not pregnant. You would be getting some other signs by now that you might be pregnant. Especially since it has been so long since you’ve had sex. If you are still worried about, call and schedule and appointment at your doctors office for a blood test. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better.

My doc perscribed phomethazine which I believe is the generic phenegren 25 MG but it barely does anything. I haven’t eatin more than a few crackers all day but everytime I put food in my mouth if it even makes it that far I get sick or dry heaves.

preggie pops – got the variety bag. Half of the smells and tastes make me sick. the green tea wasn’t too bad but I like B-natal lollipops better as the scents and tastes are mild and they contain B6 and B 12

    • ANSWER:
It sounds like your suffering from the same thing I had (Hypermesis Gravida). Mine lasted to my sixth month..You need to call your doctor and explain the situation..The only thing that worked for me was getting an I.V. every other day to stay hydrated..They would place vitamins for the baby in my I.V…I only drank and ate what sounded good..sometimes It would stay down , other times not so lucky..Don’t let yourself become to dehydrated, it can cause problems for you and the baby..Good luck

Anyone ever had helped you during morning sickness? Like cooking food b/c you can’t or anything really,?

mommiedearest.. if you are a mother. you need to get a life and stop spending so much time on yahoo answers and spend more time with your children.
I never said cooking at my home.

    • ANSWER:

  46. QUESTION:
What foods should I stay away from to prevent morning sickness?
Im lucky enough to not only have morning sickness but all day sickness, so whats some foods I should stay away from to prevent or to help with it even a little?

    • ANSWER:
Im so sorry!! Im 16 weeks and I still have … what I like to call “pregnancy sickness.” Different foods seem to affect different people. Obvious ones are heavy/greasy/really spicy foods. What I did to figure out what seems to make the nausea/vomitting worse is keep a “diary” of what I was eating. By doing that I noticed what foods seemed to give me the most trouble: red meats are a big one for me, and I avoid them now. Also, I started taking my prenatal vitamin at night when the nausea was the most mild. Try eating smaller more frequent meals, that seems to help me … nibble crakers, sip water/juice, little bit of soup etc.

GOOD LUCK, I know this part sucks, but its worth it huh?? :o )

  47. QUESTION:
    Morning sickness?
Not only do I have morning sickness but I am unable to digest any of my food or drink water. I can’t get my vitamin down. Any ideas other than the traditional eat crackers?
I am 12 weeks along and the sickness is getting worse not better.
My doctor has prescribed meds but I am not willing to take them. No meds have been okayed by the FDA for morning sickness.

    • ANSWER:
Oh stop your worrying! If you try to be perfect it might not end up that way! So many women say how their healthy pregnancy didn’t always work out.

Try B12 vitamins. Ask your doctor first of course.

  48. QUESTION:
Food or Liquids to soothe morning sickness?
Im 8weeks 2days prego and have the worst morning sickness! I found out i was pregnant at 4weeks 2days and thought i wouldnt have any since it didnt start right away my first OB app was Feb.21st i was 7weeks 3days then my morning sickness started on the 22nd, My dr gave me a list of meds to take that was safe during pregnancy so i now have Emetrol or nausea & vomitting i’ve been taking it for close to a week now and its not helping it either comes back up or i still feel nausea after i take it i was wondering if anyone had this same problem and do you know of any food or drinks that can help! Im scheduled to go in later this week because i cant keep the Emetrol down :(

      Good luck!

  49. QUESTION:
Easy food to keep down during morning sickness??
Ok Ladies (and Gents if wanted)…
So I am starving lately. I have terrible morning sickness (atleast 3 times a day), and can’t keep anything down. I’ve tried all the light things, like saltines and ginger ale… but if those stay down, I’m still hungry. Does anyone know of or has experienced some food that is filling and easy to keep down (in TERRIBLE morning sickness, not light)?

    Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!
Thank you! I’ll try to the ginger! I wasn’t sure about that when I first read it… but hearing first hand usage, makes it sounds worth a shot!

    • ANSWER:
Fruit salad, and cheddar cheese slices on crackers is my favorite snack. You have to have something with protein in it to keep your belly full. Try eating something small, and include protein every two hours. It helps me A LOT! Also, plenty of water.

  50. QUESTION:
What are some good foods to eat when you’ve got pretty severe morning sickness?
I’m having some pretty bad problems with morning sickness, having problems even with the smell or sight of food until late in the afternoon; what are some foods that you other women out there have found that you can still eat when you’re experieincing morning sickness?

    • ANSWER:
Everyone has different taste on that so it’s kind of hard to say. But to me, salted crackers and hard fruit flavoured candies always works.

Posted by: Admin in Nausea Remedies on September 10th, 2011

Nausea is that “queasy” sensation you get in your stomach that makes you feel as if you are about to vomit. I 00004000 t is a common condition that can be caused by a variety of circumstances and conditions.

Feelings of nausea can be caused by constipation, digestive disorders, food poisoning, gallstones, head injury, migraine headaches, side effects of medication, vertigo and viral infections. Often, circumstances, such as over eating and eating too quickly can cause an upset stomach. Other forms of nausea is morning sickness (which often occurs in women during their early months of pregnancy) and motion sickness (often seen in both children and adults).

The most common cause of nausea is gastroenteritis, also referred to as intestinal flu. Technically this illness is not a flu because it is not caused by the influenza virus. Gastroenteritis is normally caused by a viral infection and is over within forty eight hours.

A change in diet may help. Bananas are good. Avoid coffee and juices, especially citrus drinks. Whole-grain cereals, soups and steamed vegetables are good if they can be eaten. Drinking plenty of fluids – clear liquids, including distilled or bottled water – and munching occasionally on soda crackers may help.

The suggested nutritional supplements listed below can relieve nausea. If, however, you begin suffering severe nausea or prolonged (more than 3 days) nausea for no apparent reason, you need to see your doctor.

Natural Remedies:

1. Acidophilus helps restore bacterial balance in the digestive tract. Take one dose 3 times daily for one week. Follow package label for dosage information.

2. Basil tea is an old English remedy for nausea. Take 1/2 ounce of dry basil plus one cup of boiling water, steeped for 5 minutes and strained. Medical herbalists use basil as an antispasmodic to aid digestion, settle the stomach and to relieve nausea.

3. Cinnamon may help relieve nausea and other intestinal upsets. Take as a tea, drink 3 times a day.

4. Clove tea is a traditional, tasty remedy for nausea. Take 10 cloves in 12 ounces of boiling water, steeped 10 minutes and strained.

5. Fennel seed can help calm the waves of morning sickness that appear on their own particular schedule. Fresh fennel seeds can be kept in a small plastic bag for periodic munching.

6. Ginger relieves the symptoms of nausea in motion sickness, morning sickness and in chemotherapy. Use a standardized brand of ginger extract. Take 250 milligram capsules 30 minutes before traveling and again every 4 hours for motion sickness. Otherwise, take 250 milligram capsule or tablet 3 times daily. Take on an empty stomach. Ginger ale or ginger snaps may work if your symptoms are mild.

7. Goldenseal may suppress nausea associated with intestinal infections by destroying the organisms responsible for the symptoms. Take 125 milligram capsule every 4 hours as needed to calm an upset stomach. Goldenseal may also be taken as a tea.

8. Licorice root tea helps sooth an unsettled stomach. Follow package directions.

9. Peppermint relieves nausea by aiding digestion and reducing intestinal spasms by relaxing muscles in the digestive tract. Drink up to 3 cups of tea daily.

10. Red raspberry leaf tea has long been used by herbalist to be helpful in pregnancy. Physicians in England and Europe prescribe a number of red raspberry leaf tea preparations for uterine irritability, threatened miscarriage and morning sickness. A tea made with 2 teaspoons of dried herb and allowed to steep for 10 to 15 minutes can be taken as needed. Two to four milliliters of tincture can be taken three times daily.

11. Rosemary leaves and twigs calm the digestive tract, particularly when an upset stomach is related to tension and anxiety. A tea made of 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried herb and allowed to steep for 10 to 15 minutes or 1/2 milliliter of a tincture can be taken 3 times daily.

12. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) helps relieve nausea. For morning sickness take 10 to 25 milligrams three times daily. For motion sickness take 100 milligrams one hour before the trip followed by 100 milligrams two hours later.

Other traditional tummy settling herbal teas include anise, chamomile, dill, lemon balm, lime flowers and meadowsweet. In addition, these herbs all have many different health benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Morning sickness remedies when you’re still hiding your pregnancy?
I’m starting to get mild morning sickness at work during the day. Not running to the bathroom, but feeling queasy and dizzy. I’m only seven weeks along, so I haven’t announced yet. I’m worried that the secret will get out if people start noticing me stuffing my face with saltine crackers or eating ginger–you know, those well-known morning sickness remedies. Already I’ve had to make up a reason for having a huge box of saltines in my desk drawer (I’m on a soup kick!).

Does anyone know any good remedies for morning sickness that are not so well known, so I can fly under the radar for just a few more weeks?

    • ANSWER:
There are pressure points in the web of your hand (between the thumb and first finger) if you press into the center of the meaty part it can help.

Vitamin B-6 also helps 35 mg every few hours as needed.

Never be full, but never be empty. Snack alot. Have a drawer full of “snack size” crackers, pretzels, carrots, celery. If anyone asks you are on a diet. It looks pretty much the same. Small portions of healthy foods.

      Keep away:
Foods that smell strongly, tea (because of the tanic acid) and Coffee (also due to the acid, not the caffeine) can add to the nausea. Also, nausea can be contributed to constipation which is very common in pregnancy. Be sure to drink plenty of water so you keep going.

  2. QUESTION:
what are your morning sickness remedies?
I know a lot of people have different remedies for morning sickness. What are some of your?

The best one I have found is lemon drops. The old fashioned kind made with real lemon. They are wonderful.

Saltine crackers, lemon drops and those preggie pops worked for me this time.

  3. QUESTION:

If you do get dehydrated, don’t wait–go to the emergency room and get fluids intravenously. It’s not fun, but it will make you feel better and break the vicious cycle of dehydration.

Other things that might work for you are popsicles or ices, and fruit–a lot of miserably pregnant women find that they CAN eat fruit, so try out different kinds if that appeals at all. For me, I found that I could eat (at different times) strawberries, grapefruit, and thinly sliced golden delicious apples. It was weirdly specific, but it kept me alive!

  4. QUESTION:
Anyone know any good remedies for morning sickness?
Hi there, I am 8 weeks pregnant and have been feeling really ill this past couple of weeks. I’m not new to this pregnancy thing at all as this is my fourth child, but I have never experienced morning sickness, fortunately! I’m not actually vomitting but am feeling constantly nausiated no matter what I eat or drink, and it is not just the mornings, it can be all through the day until I go to bed at night!
I would love to know if anyone has any natural remedies for this. I do know that everyone is different and some things work for some and not others, but I would really appreciate your help.
I would prefer not to take any pills of any sort, if possible. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
green tea is nice for morning sickness.
      healthy too.
sometimes milk helps but it might not do so well.
      crackers help alot too.
maybe some plain toast? alot like a cracker.
eating a shaving of fresh ginger whenever a wave of nausea hits works really well. you can buy it in a little plastic container wherever sushi is sold.
potato chips go down well and feel good while they are there! do not eat the fat-free potato chips with
that newly approved fat substitute in them, olestra, this substance has been proven to carry important nutrients out of your body, before they can be digested. the salt and
vinegar chips can ease nausea especially well and here is why. many women experience a lot of queasiness and morning sickness during pregnancy because their saliva glands excrete more saliva than usual. all the excess saliva in the mouth makes you feel sick. the salt and vinegar on the potato chips dries up the excess saliva. thus, it reduces or totally eliminates the queasiness and morning sickness.

  6. QUESTION:
    Remedies for morning sickness?
    Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any *natural* remedies that will help with morning sickness in dogs?

Would love to hear what other people have used and how it works. Natural remedies are definitely preferred, but any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance!
Thanks everyone. I will definitely try the frequently small meals. She never had any morning sickness during her other pregnancy. Luckily she has not thrown up in my lap!

Just to be clear, I do not necessarily mean that it’s in the morning. It actually usually is later in the day.

    • ANSWER:
Small frequent meals. I think it keeps the stomach from filling up with stomach acid.

Every blasted pregnant b*tch I’ve ever had has walked up to me after drinking water with the “I don’t feel good” look on their face… and then puked in my lap or on my shoes. Frequent small meals helps.. even if it’s just a few kibbles of dog food.

  7. QUESTION:
any other remedies for morning sickness?
are there any other remedies for morning sickness other than ginger, peppermint, and b vitamin? (i know all the tips for reliving it) but i want to see if there are any other herbs or something that can help.

i CANNOT throw up.i have SEVERE emetophobia and will completly break down if i do.
    NO medication.alternative health only

    • ANSWER:
I had this bad for 26 weeks and was throwing up every couple of hours or thereabouts, so I very much sympathise with you. I found a few things worked to help reduce the intensity of this (though didn’t alleviate it completely).

      1) Homeopathy – you will need to see a properly trained homeopath who will take a case history so that they can individually tailor what will work best for you. It’s different for everyone, even for the same symptoms.

      2) Morning well tape – it’s a rhythmic tune that works on the inner ear and helps to reduce sickness. http://www.morningsicknessrelief.com/MorningWell.html

      3) Sea bands – worn on the wrists they act on pressure points that again for some people can help with sickness (travel sickness and morning sickness alike).

      4) Try to see if any particular things trigger your own sickness. I found that for me glucose set me off (only when I was pregnant, I was fine once I gave birth), so I switched to fructose instead and that really helped

      Good luck!

      * Get out of bed slowly in the morning.

      * Try eating plain crackers or dry cereal before you get out of bed in the morning.

      * Open windows or turn on exhaust fans when cooking and after meals.

      * Cooking in the microwave usually produces less odors.

      * Ginger in capsules form 250 mg. three times daily can be beneficial. Ginger has long been associated with alleviating nausea. You can also get the benefit of using ginger by chewing on crystallized ginger or sucking on ginger hard candies.

      * Silly as it sounds, carry a handkerchief with a few drops of a non nausea causing essential oil (lemon for example) in it and breath through it if you can’t get away from the smell that is bothering you.

      * Avoid greasy or spicy foods as they often cause nausea or heartburn.

      * Eat what you want when you want it. Your cravings will not lead you the wrong way.

      * Have frequent protein snacks. (Low fat meats and seafood, nuts, eggs and beans are high protein.)

      * Eat smaller meals every two hours or so.

      * Eating something salty before a meal can help you “make it through” a meal.

      * Do not drink fluids with your meals.

      * Non caffeinated teas like peppermint and ginger can help came nausea.

      * Drink small amounts of fluids regularly though out the day to avoid dehydration.

      * Do not skip meals if you can help it.

      * Try taking your prenatal vitamins later in the day. Pregnancy Plus prenatal vitamins are smaller in size and are less likely to upset your stomach. You may also want to consider taking your prenatal vitamin at night before you go to bed to give it a chance to be absorbed overnight.

      * Avoid spicy and fried food – both eating and smelling it can increase your nausea.

      * Cold food may have less nausea inducing smells associated with them.

      Doctor Prescribed Medications
If your morning sickness is severe enough, your doctor may prescribe medication that will help you reclaim some normality in your life. If you are unable to keep food or water down for any length of time, PLEASE talk to your doctor to see what can be done. Extensive weight loss / dehydration can be harmful to both mom and baby. Your doctor will be able to evaluate your situation and health profile and decide which medication will be most helpful in giving you morning sickness relief. The medications prescribed are administered in three different ways depending on the severity of the morning sickness and the medication: orally, intravenously, and in suppository format.

For an extensive listing of the medications which can be prescribed for severe morning sickness relief, please visit Hyperemesis.org.

  10. QUESTION:
does anyone have any morning sickness remedies that worked for them?
i have tried the ginger and crackers first thing in the morning or throughout the day but in the end they just made me sick and now i cant stand the thought of them!
    please help?

ps. i also don’t know why they just don’t re-name it all day sickness!

    • ANSWER:
tomato juice worked for me. Try to keep a little something in your stomach as the worst morning sickness comes when your stomach is absolutely empty. Ice cream is filling and I havent heard of it bothering anyones morning sickness, plus it tastes good…

  11. QUESTION:
What are your morning sickness remedies?
Ok I just found out I was pregnant this morning. Woo hoo for me! I have two already 13 and 8 and let me tell you, I had all day sickness for 3 months and it was terrible. I tried the crackers and ginger ale but those never worked. Now that I have yahoo answers this time around, I’m wondering ladies, what has worked for you??? I’d like to prepare myself for the coming weeks.

    thanks

    • ANSWER:
Congrats. Let’s hope this time you escape the morning sickness (it can happen). I’ve had three pregnancies, one with brutal sickness for 3 months, one with medium sickness and one with minimal.

In case you don’t escape it, here are some things that helped me…

      - take vitamin on a full stomach, never on an empty stomach
      - if you can’t stomach the vitamin try just taking folic acid during the worst of it
      - never let your stomach get empty, try the crackers again, keep them everywhere
      - try those preggie pops or whatever those suckers at motherhood store are called
      - most gingerale doesn’t actually contain any real ginger, try making your own ginger tea, or try ginger tablets from the healthfood store
      - eat what your feel like you can handle
      - if you can’t manage with these, I would go to your Dr. and ask for medication. I went on diclectin (I think this is only in Canada, but I’ve heard there is something similar in the States). It made me tired but really helped with the morning sickness.

      Good Luck!

  12. QUESTION:
Do you know any nontraditional remedies for morning sickness?
I tried everything I could: eating crackers, drinking ginger, eating in small portions? Are there any other remedies that might help?

    • ANSWER:
Chewing gum helped sometimes for me – as it helped take my mind off it, however not all the time

The only thing that worked for me was keep crackers by your bedside so whenever you wake up for whatever reason, eat…even if you are not hungry at all! then in the morning eat asap! Although, those tings did not work all the time….it helped ease it a little. You may want to contact your doctor because there is a sickness pregnant women can get and they can give you medicine that is completely safe for you and the baby and it works…I never did it because I am allergic to EVERYTHING, but hey why not calla nd see if you are eligible for it!

  18. QUESTION:
    morning sickness remedies?
I’ve been feeling horribly nauseous for weeks. Does anybody know any home remedies for morning sickness? Ginger hasn’t worked, and munching on saltines just makes me feel full and nauseous. Has anyone tried the sea-bands? Do they work?

    • ANSWER:
Sea bands didn’t work for me. I still wear them occassionally hoping they’ll up and start working but so far, they’re a no-go. Saltines and ginger ale/sprite also make me more nauseas. I wish I could find a home remedy that actually works. Of course you can take benadryl or something over the counter for nausea but I hate taking medicines. I guess I’m just going to tough mine out. I’m at work and am feeling really nauseated. I haven’t vomited (yet). Any ideas on what I can do?
I’m at work, so I need some advice on what I can do NOW. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Eat, eat, eat. Try to keep something in your stomach at all times to cut down on nausea. I find that bland foods (crackers, cereal, toast, etc) work better than spicy, greasy, or sour ones. Also, I find that things that are heavy on protein seem to help (nuts, peanut butter, cheese, yogurt, milk, meat, etc). Also, one person said to try 7-Up or Sprite, but I find that carbonation makes things worse — you’ll have to figure out what works for you. Good luck!

i have tried eating dry foods first thing in the morning but i dont even get a chance to swallow before it all comes pouring out. please help!!!!

    • ANSWER:
Everyone one told me ginger, but it didn’t work for me.
You can buy some sweets called preggypops on the web which are supposed to work. I found that juicy fruity chewy sweets helped me.
When you can eat, have very little very often.

You could also try ice lollys, arrowroot biscuits, banana & apple.

I went to the doctor and got some antiacid stuff that really helped & cyclizine pills which are antisickness and safe to take in early pregnancy. Only take things perscribed by your doctor. Please don’t use over the counter medicine as it may not be safe for you to take.

  22. QUESTION:
Anyone have any good remedies for morning sickness?
I’ve actually been feeling sick on and off throughout the day but not throwing up until nighttime. I’m almost 7 weeks along and would appreciate the advice of some seasoned pros :)

    • ANSWER:
There are some wrist bands that you can wear. They are at Walmart in the pharmacy dept (where the motion sickness meds are) (if you don’t see them ask the pharmacy staff). They work very well (they apply slight pressure to your pressure points on your wrists) and are recommended for morning and motion sickness. I was having HORRIBLE morning sickness and I bought them, nausea disappeared. It is best to wear them BEFORE you start to feel nauseated because it prevents it rather then after you start to feel bad; they will still work but it takes about 30 minutes before you will start to feel better. I liked them because the LAST thing I wanted ( while I was nauseated) was something in my mouth.

Does anyone know of any nausea busting remedies that actually work? I am currently using motion sickness bands which do work to a certain extent and ginger biscuits don’t do the trick for me…

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance:)

    • ANSWER:
I was very sick for about 8-10 weeks with this pregnancy…over it now! woohoo! But the one thing that worked the best was when I first got out of bed I would make a cup of hot chocolate. It was a thicker drink, so it put something in my belly which helped…but it was easier to keep down than solid food. also…animal crackers went down fairly well…and sucking on lollipops (I used tootsie pops) helped calm the nausea for me.

  27. QUESTION:
    Morning Sickness Remedies?
I need some natural morning sickness remedies as I just discovered I’m highly allergic to most of the medicines (Maxolon) they prescribe, Im currently 9wks pregnant and vomiting about 5-6 times per day and i also have no appetite which makes it worse as the hunger pains make me feel sick too. I really need to sort this out as i have a toddler to look after as well

    • ANSWER:
Maxolon isn’t the only anti-nausea drug available, so go back to your doctor and tell them that you want something else. I had prescriptions for both Maxolon and Stemetil. There are some things you can do at home aswell to try and ease your nausea. Every pregnancy is different and every woman has an intolerance to a different kind of food, for me it was meat. I found ginger beer helped with the nausea, and I just ate whatever I could manage. Forcing yourself to eat will only make it worse. Your body will let you know when you are ready to eat. It should be over in a couple of weeks, mine ended the day I was 12 weeks, so just hang in there!!!!

  28. QUESTION:

Also, you could try Preggie Pops–they’re made is flavors that have scientifically been found to be more tolerable to the queasy mom-to-be’s palate (started as a product for chemo patients):

  31. QUESTION:
are there any home remedies to help with morning sickness?
my wife is often very sick in the morning and sometimes all through the day… is there anything she can use that is all natural to help her through this… we prefer all natural stuff cause we wanna do what’s best for the baby, so are their any teas or anything at all that can help her out?

    • ANSWER:
      Absolutely no pills.

As long as she is still taking her prenatals the baby is getting what it needs right now. But if she’s really sick, buy her some saltine crackers and have them next to her at bed and before she even sits up in the morning and gets out of bed, she should eat a few crackers to help soothe her stomach.

There are certain teas out there that are bad for mom and baby right now so she should talk to her doctor before taking any of those. What’s best for baby is just getting the proper vitamins (in prenatals) fruits, veggies, fiber, water, juice. And anything your wife is craving, let her have it, except if it’s like dirt or leaves or something, then that’s bad and she should go to the doctor. If her body is craving any kind of food, whether you think it’s healthy or not, it means her body is low on something and she needs it in her body. She shouldn’t eat a lot of it, but if she’s craving egg salad sandwiches and potato salad or something or potato chips all at once, she needs protein and that’s why her body is making her want it. Cravings are a good thing because your body is telling you it’s lacking something the baby and you need so give into them. Just don’t pig out.

For the “all natural stuff” with teas and everything, you should talk to your doctor first because a lot of that stuff isn’t healthy for a pregnant mom and a growing baby.

    Any remedies for morning sickness?
I can’t take it all day at work- I will try anything.

    • ANSWER:
I felt like that when I was pregnant with my daughter… There isn’t much that can be done but here is what helped me take off enough of an edge to get through the days…

      I wore sea sickness bracelets.

I had a VERY COLD iced tea & bag of Herr’s Choc covered pretzels every single morning.

I kept snacks like a bagel, fruit, nuts, granola bars, etc at my desk all day and forced myself to eat one of those snacks every time the nausea was heading into “porelain throne” worthy territory.

I made sure to keep pretzels by my bed so I could snack on a few every time I woke up to go pee, or in the morning before I got up.

And I just kept telling myself that time will wash away the all day 24/7 what am I doing having a kid nausea…

      Good Luck!!!

Oh, this time I am finding that Jolly Ranchers (specifically Cherry) are helping calm sudden urges to run for the restroom…

  40. QUESTION:
    Home remedies for morning sickness?
I’m only 6 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with morning sickness since shortly after becoming pregnant… which is unusual. I’m not vomiting but I can not eat. I get so hungry that I can’t think but if I look at food or try to eat I get extremely queasy and light headed. A few times I even start gagging and barely manage to not vomit. With my last pregnancy all I had to do was sip some gatorade and would feel better. I want to know what your remedies are/ were, or what you ate that was easier to digest. Thanks!

      Good luck!

Do You Know Of Any Good Morning Sickness Remedies?

    Pleeease Heeeelp Meeeeee lol :-)

    • ANSWER:
Maybe this link can help you:

      http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/48/137.cfm

      Here are some more:
Eat soda crackers 15 minutes before getting up in the morning,

Eat small meals often (for example, every 2 hours).

Drink fluids 1/2 hour before a meal, or 1/2 hour after a meal. (Do not drink during meals.)

Drink enough fluids during the day to avoid dehydration. (Drink small amounts each time.)

Do not hesitate to eat whatever you feel like eating, this is not the time to diet.

Do not hesitate to eat whenever you feel you can.

Get up slowly and do not lie down right after eating, this may trigger nausea and heartburn.

Do not skip meals if you can help it.

Avoid cooking or eating spicy and fried food.

Try eating cold food instead of hot. (Cold food may not smell as strong as hot food)

Get plenty of rest. Try napping during the day. (The condition tends to worsen if you are tired.)

Sniffing lemons or ginger, drinking lemonade, or eating watermelon sometimes relieves nausea.

As weird as this sounds, some woman have found that eating salty potato chips has been found to help settle stomachs enough to eat a meal.

Drinking carbonated ginger ale and/or club soda and eating Melba toasts really helped to settle my stomach, during my morning sickness “attacks”.

Anybody have any secrects for the nausea and or morning sickness? Theres got to be something right??

    • ANSWER:
Its different for everyone. I found making homemade smoothies helped me. Strawberries, ice, a little bit of milk, and a cup of yogurt in the blender.
Oh yeah organic Ginger Ale! There is no ginger in regular Ginger Ale. Giant has organic Blue Sky Ginger Ale. Thats the brand I bought.
Don’t take B-12 my dr. said not too. They said B6 is the safe one during pregnancy.

  48. QUESTION:
    remedies for morning sickness?
My daughter is 8 wks pregnant and is having terrible morning sickness. She says she feels fine when she first gets up, but after she eats breakfast, she gets really sick. I told her to try the crackers and water before she gets up ,but that doesn’ t help either, she has gotten pills from her Dr. and that don’t help either.
Her husband has a friend who does Acupuncture and he suggested a herbal remedy that you spread on crackers and eat before you get up in the A.M. This is her second pregnancy and she can’t remember being this sick before. She works in the CCU as a R.N. and luckily they understand as she can’t work when she is this sick. Has anyone ever heard of Acupuncture for nausea during pregnancy?

    • ANSWER:
Never heard of this before. Unfortunately morning sickness is not something that you can really escape if you get it. You could try using Bath and Body Work’s peppermint oil. I think peppermint is supposed to help. Also, have her try Sea Bands….wrist bands with a little button on them to help stop nausea by applying pressure to certain points on your wrists. Some people swear by them. They may look a little silly, but if they work, she’s probably won’t care! You can get them at the pharmacy, probably walmart too. Good luck and congratulations!

  49. QUESTION:
My morning sickness is decreasing my appetite?
I’ve been having morning sickness for about the past week, and found out that I’m 4 weeks pregnant last Thursday……. I’ve been miserable, and on top of it all, it’s like my appetite has gone away. I’m hardly eating anything, and that worries me.

What can I do? I’m pregnant- I SHOULD be eating, not starving! Are there any homemade remedies for morning sickness that will help get my appetite back to normal? IS this normal?

    • ANSWER:
i’d call your dr and ask to be prescribed some medication to help your morning sickness.

other then that, try eating small snacks through out the day.
ive found pretzels, almonds, any type of bland cereal, saltines, dry toast, ginger ale ect all seem to help keep the morning sickness to a min.

also, don’t eat 3 big meals, instead, eat 5 smaller meals through out the day.
i think i heard somewhere once that if you microwave more food, its easier to eat because when you cook food you get more of the smells, which can trigger the sickness more.

      good luck hunny :)

I’m 6 weeks pregnant with my second child and the morning sickness is kicking in with a vengance. With my first child my doctor prescribed me anti-sickness tablets but before I go down this road again, does anyone know of any over the counter medicines or non-food methods? I’ve heard that travel sickness wrist bands can help, has anyone tried this?
