QUESTION:
Can I be having morning sickness and pregnancy cramps 4 to 5 days after getting pregnant?
I had sex with my bf 5 to 6 days ago and I was ovulating he didn’t ejaculate inside of me but he did in the opening of my vagina. I think he might of push some inside of me. Now my bReast feel kind of sore and I’ve been cramping, also been having something like morning sickness. Is too soon or I’m pregnant?-
ANSWER:
It’s unlikely that you’re experiencing symptoms this early on, it can take a while for the sperm to reach the egg in the first place, especially if you don’t actually release an egg when you think you’re going to. It’s never exactly on the 14th day, everyone’s cycle is different. Breast tenderness and cramping could be a sign of your period, it might be that you’re going to have one early. Or of course there is always that chance, however slim, that you could be pregnant. The only way you’re going to know for sure is by doing a test but if I were you I’d wait it out for at least another week. Most women find out they’re pregnant at about 5-6 weeks, wait till you’re due on and if after a couple of days it doesn’t happen, then try a pregnancy test.

QUESTION:
Did you experience morning sickness during pregnancy and if so what ended up being your baby’s sex?
Do you think that the sex of the baby has anything to do with morning sickness?
I know the sex of the baby is decided by genes and that morning sickness is cause by hormones changing! That being said just curious if people experienced some, none, or worse sickness perhaps linking gender!-
ANSWER:
I had two boys no morning sickness. When I got morning sickness with this pregnancy I knew it was a girl. I believe everyones different but that different genders affect u differently. The wives tale fits me but may be opposite for others. I think girls have more of a chance of causing morning sickness since they have more estrogen

QUESTION:
Are there any factors correlated with morning sickness in pregnancy?
We’re thinking about trying for our first later this year, and I was just curious whether there are any factors that suggest you’ll have morning sickness or not. For instance, is it correlated with your own mother’s experience? How easily you become queasy in general? Gender of the baby? Thanks in advance
-
ANSWER:
No- not that I know of. My mother had two girls and didn’t have morning sickness at all. I think she said she felt a day or two sick (but never threw up) with both my sister and I. My sister has four children and had little to no morning sickness with the first three (two boys and a girl). And with the last child (a boy) she had some, but it went away around the 13 week. With my first pregnancy(a girl) I threw up three times a day for the first half of it. Then three times a week for the second half. With this pregnancy (a girl) it has been better, but not that much better. I am almost 32 weeks and still throwing up.
So I haven’t seen any correlated with family or with gender.

QUESTION:
What causes a women to get morning sickness during pregnancy?
And how come some women get this and others don’t? Like, does it have to do with how much stress your under during or how little rest you get?-
ANSWER:
Its actually the fact that your body is trying to defend itself against a foreign body. The baby at its early stages feeds off the mother like a parasite. After about 3 months the woman’s body accepts the baby as part of the mother and usually the morning sickness stops.

QUESTION:
Is morning sickness(pregnancy) caused because your baby doesn’t like the food or what are the reasons for it?
I’m about 8 weeks in my pregnancy, and have been with morning sickness for the last 2 weeks. I thought it would be fun if on my cell I would have a list of every food that has made me throw up. Well I’ve noticed that 3 times in the last 2 weeks I’ve ate chips: doritos, lays, and fritos and I’ve throw them up! It made me wonder is it cause the baby doesn’t like the food? Or cause its too much for my stomach? My husband was happy saying that good for the baby that he/she makes me throw up chips so that I won’t eat them! Haha! I was just wondering what exactly causes morning sickness or sometimes all day sickness? Thanks!-
ANSWER:
morning sickness is caused by your body disposing of the excess hormones its producing into your stomach. While it does this continuously – its when you have an empty stomach the problem occurs- its too consentrated for the body to process- so it tries to remove it from the body in the only other way it knows how- by making you throw it up. Thats why you feel sick. Your body is trying to make you get sick to get the stuff out of your stomach. It can be controlled in two ways- First dilution= they did a study that showed drinking an 8 oz glass of real orange juice when you first wake up- before you stand up- it reduces the occurrence of morning sickness by half.
Second- absorption= go pick up good old salteen crackers (salted soda crackers.) Any time you feel even a tiny nauseated – eat 4 crackers. The salt gets the bitter taste out of your mouth and the crackers absorb the offending hormone fluid. Do not drink anything while eating crackers. Write down the exact time you feel sick- you notice it hits at the same time every day- now eat the crackers 15 minutes before the time hits- and you’ll never feel sick again!

QUESTION:
Morning sickness, pregnancy symptoms, but negative test….?
I should start off with the fact that my husband had a vasectomy in April of last year. For three months now my period has been off, late and shorter than usual. I’ve been spotting between periods which I’ve never done. I have had morning sickness for about 3 weeks like I had when I was pregnant with both of my children. I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old. My breasts are enlarged and sore and I’ve been having cravings off and on. I have a headache that won’t quit and I’ve been bloated. I’ve taken a pregnancy test but it turned up negative. Does anyone else know what could be wrong? My last period was the 23rd of December. Thanks in advance for your help.-
ANSWER:
it does sound like your pregnant i had exactly what you re having with the cravings and everything i took a test and 3 came up negative then i finally took another 1 a month later and found out i was 3 months pregnant

QUESTION:
Pregnancy / Morning Sickness / Too Soon?
I’m wondering if I might be getting morning sickness and I wanted to see what other people think.I was pregnant once, when I was 18. I started throwing up a lot before the take home tests even came back positive. I went to the Dr after throwing up all over my parent’s house (they thought I was sick) and I found out from a second blood test that I was very early in a pregnancy. I ended up having an abortion, but that is another story.
Today I am feeling very sick to my stomach, and it is taking serious will power not to throw up at work. I’m 26 now, a professional with a great career and can’t leave sick.
I was scheduled to be ovulating on the 4th-8th-ish of this month. My last period ended 9/20. My boyfriend and I have sex almost daily, and we use a condom with spermicide.
Is it possible to be having morning sickness this early? How often/likely is it that a condom would fail when used properly with no visible signs of tears/etc.?
-
ANSWER:
Condoms are extremely effective when used correctly however as I am sure you know not 100%. I started getting sick 3 days before my period was even due but I was far enough to get a pos. on an hpt. It never hurts to check. As a side note there is a yucky stomach bug going around so that could be it also. Think of your co-workers and go home if you think you have it. Believe me they don’t want it.

QUESTION:
second pregnancy morning sickness….?
*now i know everyone and every pregnancy is different but..I am currently 5 weeks pregnant. My last pregnancy i was sick before i even found out i was pregnant at 4 weeks. With this pregnancy i noticed i felt great up until about 4 days ago when i started to get morning sickness. Does anyone think that it wont be as bad this time? will it get worse? what are your similar experiences..?-
ANSWER:
It really could go either way. I know a lot of girl who are sick from day one right to the end. For me I was sick from about week 7 peaked at week 11 and after week 16 I haven’t gotten sick again and I’m 24 weeks. This is also my second pregnancy, but it is worse than my first I didn’t get any morning sickness at all.

QUESTION:
TTC/fears of pregnancy/morning sickness questions?
So, for the past three months I have done a complete nutrition detox of my body and I am ready to TTC.I will be TTC with friend
(been a dream since I was 10)My ONLY fear for pregnancy (other than obvious ones like a healthy baby) is morning sickness.I am SCARED to DEATH of vomiting (emetophobic)
I just basically wanted to know how many actually have experienced vomiting during morning sickness. It is said that emets don’t often for the simple fact that we are suppose to fight it back more than other people who would rather just let it go but I was ill with a stomach virus once and there was no way I could fight that off lol.I do prevent myself from vomiting even if I have extreme nausea but I just don’t know how different it would be when I am pregnant.I have researched all to help minimize the morning sickness from keeping food in the stomach to ginger.I have a list of products that are suppose to help from this morning sickness website and I will go to the doctor for anti emetics but I know that all those could fail.Everyone is difference and every pregnancy is different but what I was just wondering how many of you came close to vomiting or did vomit and do you normally have “strong” or “weak” stomachs?
Thanks
-
ANSWER:
my first pregnancy i vomited every day till i was about 4 mths. my second pregnancy was a dream i didnt feel sick for even a second.but the third time round, woah have i been sick this time. i ended up in the hospital a couple of times, once just because i was so dehydrated from not holding ANYTHING down. then i threw up so much i burst a blood vessel in my stomach and was bringing up blood. the anti emitics started to work after that and now im 19 weeks and it only comes back if i get too hungry or tired.

ANSWER:
Morning sickness can sometimes come and go when it pleases! You may just be one of the lucky ones!
Cramping is 100% normal, and is a GOOD thing! That means your uterus is stretching to make room for that growing little darling of yours.Sorry about your loss though, my husband and I had a similar experience.
Best of luck this time around

QUESTION:
Suggestions for coping with severe morning sickness during pregnancy?
My sister-in-law is expecting for the first time. She has severe morning sickness that lasts most of the day. I had a little morning sickness with my first, but nothing like this. I was able to curb most of my morning sickness symptoms with crackers and a little ginger ale or ginger tea but this is not helping with her at all. Does anyone have any other ideas that she can try to ease the nausea and vomiting?-
ANSWER:
I had horrible morning sickness with all 3 of my children. I found that motion sickness bands helped. They look like wristbands or sweatbands with a little plastic ball on them. You put them on your wrists and supposedly they create a pressure point that helps with your equilibrium and in turn helps with the nausea. They worked especially well when I had to go in the car. You can find these at any supermarket, drugstore, or WalMart. They will be with the motion sickness medicine. Also, have your sister eat some crackers before she ever moves from the bed. This would require her to have them close. Have her lay there for awhile before she gets out of the bed. Then throughout the day have her nibble on crackers to curb the acid in her stomach.
If nothing works, just reassure her that it will all be over soon and that this is truly a great time in her life. Just make sure she doesn’t get dehydated! If she shows signs, take her to the hospital immediately.

QUESTION:
After pregnancy morning sickness?
All through out my pregnancy I experienced no morning sickness, no heartburn and very few food sensitivities or cravings (the only thing I craved was ice cream and the only thing that really bugged me was chocolate). I had my twin girls on December 25th 2008 by Emergency C-Section. Since then I have been feeling extremely nauseous, there is very little I can eat or drink with out vomiting, besides saltines and water. And even too many saltine gives m heart burn. Is this just a ten day long stomach flu, or something more?
I am still taking pain meds, however what I am taking is exactly what I took beore pregnancy for rheumatoid arthritis, mind you in a lower doese-

QUESTION:
Did those who experienced morning sickness in early pregnancy end up with a girl or boy?
Just wanted to see if my mom’s theory is correct about severe morning sickness in early pregnancy results in a girl baby.-
ANSWER:
Baby number 1 – Hardly any sickness. A healthy baby boy.Baby number 2 – So sick I weighed less at 18 weeks then I did pre-pregnancy. I was also hospitalised at 35 weeks and 36 weeks, hooked up to an IV drip and refused leave to go home until I stopped showing ketones in my thrice daily urine samples. The presence of ketones showed that I was breaking down my own body fat, so therefore not digesting enough to feed me and the baby. Another healthy baby boy.
Baby number 3 – Serious vomiting from around 7 weeks to 13 weeks. I’m now at 16 weeks with sporadic feelings of nausea and vomiting, although I still can’t bear to be around cigarette smoke, the smell of popcorn, and various other odours. I don’t know what I’m having yet, but past experience has taught me that it doesn’t matter.
Each of my pregnancies has been wildly different. They all have the same father, the first 2 were born in the same month of the year, we had the same home, the same jobs etc. I can’t even say that it’s down to the individual, because I seem to have experienced the whole rainbow of pregnancy symptoms with one baby or another lol.
On a more serious note, people who have never had pregnancy sickness have absolutely no idea how horrible it is. It is, without doubt, the worst form of sickness I have ever ever EVER had, and it doesn’t go away once you empty your stomach contents either. I hope your sickness goes away soon if you’re having it.
Good luck with your baby

ANSWER:
I had the same problem. when I would wake up in the morning I would be sooo thirsty, and even a sip of water would cause me to throw up. I had horrible morning sickness all day too. my doctor told me to eat a few bites of something every half hour. some dry cereal, granola bars, and cold fruit (when I was thirsty ) worked for me. during the night make sure you keep eating too, I did every time I woke up to pee. I know it’s hard but try not to drink anything when you get up until you eat and let it settle. this really worked for me and I hope it helps you.

QUESTION:
In pregnancy (morning sickness)…?
Does every woman experience morning sickness?I’m not pregnant or anything but I’m just curious because some women I speak to don’t have cravings, some do…so is this the same situation with morning sickness?
Lizzie, I’m confused…you said “yes” to every woman has it yet then you said you didn’t but your friend did…Contradiction!
Lol, thanks for the answers, though.
I hope I don’t get it when I fall pregnant if it lasts a few weeks!!!

ANSWER:
Not all women have morning sickness. I did with both of my sons but my cousin never did with her 3 daughters. And why they call it morning sickness is beyond me….it happens at all hours!

QUESTION:
nightmare pregnancy morning sickness?
I’ve had morning sickness through the whole thing im 30 weeks now and my morning sickness just started to come back with the same force as it did in my first trimester… it had sorta eased a bit in my second trimester. im worried because i was so sick in my first trimester i lost 20 pounds and i finally gain it back. in the beginning it was so bad even if i drank water or milk in the morning it would just come back up… my doctor finally put me on diclectin(sp?) the last time i gave up trying to keep things down all together but i ate and tried to keep some down for a little while to hopefully get something out of it. i really don’t wanna have to start that again… and it worked for a while but recently its stopped working. has anyone else had morning sickness this bad? what did you do to try and stop it? (and i’ve tried eating something small before getting outta bed.. no dice)-
ANSWER:
oh sweetheart do i feel for you… i know exactly what you are talking about and nothing helped me. nothing. i tried everything… everything. the diclectin did take the edge off, but i never felt good enough to eat, ever. all i can say is you only have 10 more weeks. if your dr. thinks that the baby is fine, try not to worry about that and as far as your ability to deliver when the time comes, trust that your adrenaline will get you through. believe me, in a few short weeks you will be holding your beautiful little baby and all this awful nausea will be a distant memory.

QUESTION:
Vegan/Vegetarian mums, did you experience morning sickness/pregnancy nausea?
I had horrid pregnancy nausea with my first child to the point that I was hospitalized. I have read that diet before pregnancy plays a role, and those who consume less meat or dairy suffer less nausea. Can any vegan/vegetarian mum ascertain this?
ScProf – I’m not really expecting a miracle cure. Having less MS is a blessings in itself. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum the last time, I can’t even keep water down. I even woke up in the middle of the night to vomit. Just keeping the sickness to one or two times a day is good enough incentive for me to go vegan

ANSWER:
Yes, vegetarian moms are believed to have fewer food aversions during pregnancy. I’m vegetarian and have had only mild morning sickness through my pregnancies. This may be in part due to meat having a stronger odor/taste, while few vegetarian things trigger that same reaction.I doubt that you could completely eliminate nausea and morning sickness (since that comes from rising hormone levels and not food aversions), but it probably can’t hurt to take red meat out of your diet and see what happens.
Good luck!

QUESTION:
Zofran and pregnancy (morning sickness)?
Ah well I couldn’t find what I needed on the webs so I thought I would ask moms out there personally about their experience with Zofran for morning sickness. I get morning sickness real bad with all my pregnancies to the point where I will lose more than 10 lbs and need IV fluids eventually. It gets better for me around the 6th month. BUT they have me on Zofran and for some reason I have gotten sicker. I am throwing up more and feel more exhausted than I did before I took it. Could there be a chance my body is just rejecting it?
I tried to get ahold of the doctor he’s not answering and his nurse couldn’t be more worse. She doesn’t answer either. (I am currently stuck in a small hickville town, only been here a year and the doctors here are horrid, we plan to move back to the city for sure! as soon as we can.)Has any one else had this problem where the Zofran made it worse?
By the way this is our third child, was never on Zofran before. I am also in the 4th month right now.
Thanks-
ANSWER:
I don’t know if Zofran could be making it worse. However, I do know that for many people it just doesn’t work. I have a good friend that throws up all during her pregnancies. She has been hospitalized etc. And I know Zofran didn’t work for her. And I have heard many people talk that it made them very tired. So it isn’t just in your head.I took it and I think it helped some, but it didn’t completely work for me. When my doctor gave it to me she said “If this doesn’t work there are other medicines we can try” So call your doctor and ask for something else. They should give it to you and if not then insist on it. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

QUESTION:
pregnancy morning sickness?
i am about 8 weeks pregnant with my second child. i felt perfectly fine up until about a week ago.. i started feeling nauseous. and now im getting sick non stop every day! I am not able to keep anything down including drinks. i had morning sickness with my first. but she mainly just gave me nausea not actually making me get sick to my stomach constantly…. done anyone have any advice on what i can do to keep foods down and make me feel better. its affecting my work and everyday life.. someone pleaseeee help!!also everyone says morning sickness is a sign of having a girl… someone please tell me differently.
-
ANSWER:
My morning sickness started at 5 weeks and has let up a bit but is still bothering me now at almost 30 weeks! I tried all the natural remedies, ginger ale, sour candies, mints, ice cubes…nothing helped with the continuous nausea or how violently I was being sick. My midwife ended up putting me on diclectin, a prescription anti-nauseant that is completely safe to use during pregnancy. I still felt the nausea, but wasn’t sick nearly as much.I’m not a huge advocate for medication, especially during pregnancy, but I really didn’t have any other choice. I was breaking all the blood vessels in my face and neck being sick and was risking serious dehydration.
And I can’t tell you differently from my experience….she’s a girl!

QUESTION:
How many of you had morning sickness with first pregnancy?
Just trying to see if morning sickness is more common that not in first pregnancies, also, does anyone have any idea why morning sickness actually occurs? Thanks-
ANSWER:
I had morning sickness throughout the first 6 months of my first pregnancy. It was pretty bad. I was nauseous quite a bit. I threw up, but not that often. I am now on my second pregnancy (19 wks) and still get nauseous but (thank goodness) have only thrown up once! And sorry to say, I am not sure why, exactly, we get it.
I do have to add a comment here, though. I think that perhaps more women who have had morning sickness are going to answer this question than those who have not – possibly skewing your poll. If you haven’t experienced morning sickness, you might not even “click” on this question because it doesn’t relate to you. Just trying to account for any possible inaccuracies in your data search.

QUESTION:
how many women are affected by morning sickness during pregnancy??
ok so help with these questions would be appreciated:1) how common is it?
2) is it hereditary?
3) when during the pregnancy does it occur?
4) how many days/ weeks or months does it last for?thanks
xxx
like how many pregnant women are physically vomit?-
ANSWER:
it’s pretty common, obviously – most have at least some and about 1/3 have vomiting. it becomes less common as a woman gets older. It often continues to the end of the third trimester – 14th or 16th week.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003119.htm
I don’t believe it is hereditary – that’s what my doctor told me – but I don’t have a reference for that.
I had kids at 38 & 35 and never had more than a touch of nausea, my sister had a baby at 37 and was tremendously nauseous and threw up for the first 15 weeks…

QUESTION:
Is vomiting normal without any morning sickness during your pregnancy?
I’m 7 weeks pregnant (first baby) and have had some morning sickness here and there. I just threw up without any symptoms-is this common during pregnancy? I always thought you felt morning sickness along with vomiting.
Thanks! Everything I’ve read has said you should feel other symptoms resulting in vomiting. I felt nothing and then I was running to the toilet. I guess I should just be prepared at any moment from now on?!!-
ANSWER:
like the other woman said, vomiting is morning sickness. You don’t have to feel weak, lightheaded and nauseous beforehand, certain smells can trigger it and you just have to run. I didn’t get nauseous some of the times I could just feel something was going to come up, I had morning sickness all the way through my second pregnancy.

QUESTION:
Morning sickness?
So I woke up today at 330,(i work over night) very nauseated and I have diarrhea. I cant stop gagging. Anyway. Is diarrhea a symptom of morning sickness or pregnancy. I didnt have it with my other 2 pregnancies. I dont even know if i am preggo, just weird stuff has been happening.-
ANSWER:
Actually YES it is. My friend found out she was pregnant she had diarrhea and was vomiting. The diarrhea was from her introverted cervix. That’s what the DR. told her..and she had it for the first trimester along with nausea. She’s fine now and she has had her baby last yr. good luck and maybe in 2 weeks you should get a blood test just to see if you are or not.

QUESTION:
No Morning Sickness with first pregnancy?
I am 7 weeks along in my first pregancy, and am feeling no morning sickness. I’ve had other symptoms, but no sickness. Im actually feeling the best I’ve ever felt! I seem to have alot of energy (most of the time) It just concerns me b/c supposubly morning sickness is much healthier (thats what i’ve heard). What could be some possible culprits? Should I be worried at all, or just enjoy?-
ANSWER:
Let’s see with my two pregnancies my morning sickness didn’t start until i was about 8 weeks pregnant. With the first one i gained all together 25 lbs. (i learned my lesson). With the second one I lost 15 lbs. during the first 4 months then gained it back so i ended up thinner than when i got pregnant. I had two healthy baby boys and believe me both pregnancies were different. Enjoy your pregnancy and no matter if your sick or not your baby will be fine. I think i had more energy with my second one because i would go for walks in the afternoon and kept myself busy. Enjoy!

QUESTION:
Pregnancy & Morning Sickness?
Hi.. I have another pregnancy-related problems which I am sure many others have.
I’m in my first trimester and I find it hard to eat a well-balanced diet. Whatever that is good comes back out. Even supplements are hard to keep down after food.
I tried fruits, vege with rice or soup, even bread but still a no-no.
So, i only eat foods that appeal to me like french fries and burgers. I really feel nauseated the whole day and without food in stomach only makes it worst. I also feel really bloated.Any suggestions on what I could do?
-
ANSWER:
Talk to your doctor about switching to flinstone vitamins instead of your prenatal for now. Also, common things like ginger and Vitiam B help. It you really can’t deal with it there is a med that your Doctor can give you. Also, they make ginger suckers. I know they sell them at motherhood. you will get past this stage soon!

QUESTION:
Is it too soon to feel pregnancy/morning sickness symptoms?
I ovulated Sunday and we BD Thursday through Sunday, everyday. This is our first month of trying so I’m not like super nervous or anxious about “is this it” I just feel lime crap! I have been really tired and have had no motivation all week, starting Monday. The last two days ive noticed some very minor very slight twinges of cramping that only last a couple seconds. Starting today I’ve had a headache and have been getting nauseous. You know that “I think I just threw up in my mouth a little” thing that sometimes happens? That’s happened twice today. I don’t have sore breasts or swollen feet or hands and I can’t tell if I have increase urination. But this is my 4th pregnancy, if it’s pregnancy at all, and I’ve never showed those signs until much later on. But with my other three pregnancies, I’ve never been “tracking and trying” and never been so in tune with my body. Is it too soon to actually be pregnant and feeling symptoms? If so, what am I feung? My period isn’t due until June 4th-

QUESTION:
When did your pregnancy symptoms (morning sickness, tiredness) kick in?
Saturday I was floating along with no problem. Today? I eat lunch and feel soo sick 15mins later, I started to nod out at work during nap time for the kids, and one of the 1 year olds accidently hit my boob and I thought I was going to crawl up in the fetal position LOL! Any other super fun stuff I should prepair for?-
ANSWER:
I was right at 6 weeks when the tiredness and nausea kicked in, and then in a couple of weeks, I started getting indigestion really badly. After I would eat, I would feel like I had a ball of food just sitting about halfway down my esophagus. Luckily, that didn’t last but maybe a month, and it was only really bad for about 2 weeks. Everything went away by 13 weeks. The indigestion has just started coming back recently, and I’m 25 weeks as of yesterday. So far, though, it’s still just very occasional (only a couple of times), and hasn’t been nearly as bad as at the beginning. I’m sure it’ll come back as the baby gets bigger though. LOL Good luck with everything!

QUESTION:
If you got really bad morning sickness with one pregnancy, is it possible to NOT get sick with the next?
I got really bad morning sickness with #1, is it a given that I’ll get it again or is it possible that I won’t get it all?-
ANSWER:
Every pregnancy is different. I had a friend who was horribly sick all through her first one. The second one, she breezed through. With me, my first was a breeze and now my second has been more difficult.

QUESTION:
Has anyone had morning sickness with one pregnancy but not another one?
I am panicking a bit, because my first pregnancy I was really sick early on for at least 10 weeks. This one I feel a little nauseous, but nothing bad at all. I’m worried.-
ANSWER:
That is exactly how my 2 pregnancies went. The first sick for 12 wks and the second no nausea. They do say that every pregnancy is different. I also had a girl and then a boy. Even though they say the sex has nothing to do with how you feel, you just never know. Good luck
